    Reminton vs. Sako

I am interested in a Remington 700 Sendero in 7mm mag. But I came across
a Sako A-7 long range in the same caliber. I am interested in anyone's thoughts on these fine rifles. Which rifle would you purchase and why?
    Thanks in advance, Mark.

Sako all the way, best part is no mods needed to make it perform. Sako is half a staircase above Remington.

I really like the sendero after you put a timney trigger in it. If you're gonna mod it there's a lot more out there for the Remington.

The Remmy is not even in the same league as the Sako.

Sako is THE king of quality and precision for massed produced production rifles. Remington (especially modern production) is near the bottom of that list.

This is the correct answer. If your looking for a hunting rig, the Sako is king. But if looking or a rifle to build a target/long range platform from, the Remington is the easiest to work with.

Tell you what . I bought my first Remington in 1984. last 1 in 2000. My buddy bought 1 in 2007. His bolt handle fell off at the range. I was in shock. My 7 mag is built like a tank its the last Remington I bought. I look at the current ones now and then they look ok . But the 870s look like garbage. I would go Sako . Thats a fine gun . But Building a custom 700 action gun is another story.

I'm kinda a Rem 700 guy, but when I had a chance to handle a Sendero stainless in 264 win mag the first time at a local store I was amazed how heavy it was. For that reason I'd go with the Seko. Lugging that baby around in the field after a few hours will definitely make sore pecs. On the other hand, if you're looking for something to punch long distance paper with at the range, the extra weight of the Sendero will lengthen the recoil pulse out to something more bearable...

I dont think the A7 is the quality people think when they hear Sako.

Its the model 85 Sako that makes people dizzy. My sense is the A7 is more like a rebranded Tikka?

                              85 Sako > Rem 700 > Sako A7

Get this one and never wish for nicer:

Or if you must go modern long range style here is a sweet .338 Lapua (or .300 win mag if you are just shooting grasshoppers) at 9.7 pounds, for 2,500 bucks :
