    CZ 527 7.62x39 Reloading?

Anyone done much research on this topic? Or done it themselves?

1:9 twist rate. Heard 308 bullets can work? Or .311 the best way to go?

    CZ 527 7.62x39 Reloading?

The gun was literally, as documented by CZ, made to eat surplus ammo that uses a .311 bullet. It also says that American made 7.62x39 might be undersized. Go with a .311 bullet.

Depends what you want to do with it, hunt, bench, 200-500 meter silouette.

Load up 150 hornady or speer bullets seated out to touch rifling, load 28 grains of aa2230.

Crap surplus gets you crap groups, handloads get you accuracy (1-1.5 moa) groups and better ballistics.

I'm shooting 29 grains of aa2230 out of a .308 bore Kreiger in a mauser 98 action with 155 SMK Palma bullets seated out long.

Kendog4570 built this gun for me, 18 moa 200-500 meters.

Listen up to 6mmintl. He has a PhD in 7.62X39. I used a .308 bore match barrel and JGD 7.62X39 Lapua reamer, per C.E Harris' writings. I can't remember the twist. It will handle .310's with no pressure problems, but accuracy is what you would expect with surplus ammo. Different story with good bullets and good reloading practices. He has shot more than a few 1/2 MOA groups with this gun. People cringe a little when he un-cases it at a 200 meter match. At full distance (500 M) he has no problem hitting the rams, but they don't always go down.

Thinking more of a fun at the range gun, and hunting down the line.

edit: if you rechamber to .308 diameter would you be making a wildcat? 308x39?

I suppose that subject could get beat to death on a forum like this, but .308 to .311 is really no big deal. Tight bores don't significantly raise pressures. Tight necks are a sure way to raise them. One of the best ways to get a beat US 1917 shooting is to try Sierra match bullets for the .303 (.311) before you re barrel.

Wondering if the mags will fit those bigger bullets. And what gr bullets will stabilize out of that 1:9 twist

You'll have to talk to Frank (6mmintl) about that part. His barrel is either a 10 or 14 twist.

                    I have one...

For fun at the range, just shoot the surplus stuff... a lot less of a hassle. (I've shot one 8" group at 600yds with WPA hollow points. Most are probably 12-18" at that range.)

If you want better accuracy, reload. Mine shoots better with .308 bullets... Speer 130g TNT and Federal MK319 130g OTM. Stick with lighter bullets. I've shot some 150/155 and they drop like a rock, almost from the the time they leave the barrel.

It doesn't seem to like Hornady .310 FMJ/SST/ZMax. (Probably just haven't found the right powder load. Come to think of it, I did order the SST and ZMax bullets after an amazing group with Hornady Factory steel cased SST's.)

I also have some Sierra 125g 303 British bullets that I haven't gotten around to trying.

                      .
For those that shoot eastern bloc brass surplus that's Berdan-primed, what method/agents do you use to clean your barrel?

                      Thanks in advance!

Has anyone with a 7.62x39 bolt gun used Lapua ammo, or hand loaded with Lapua and Vhita components ? I'd make a small wager that . . . .. .

It's the Lapua chamber that makes the difference. The CIP chamber is for commie jungle fighting.

Unfortunately the cz mags are short and you would have to seat heavy (150) deep in case and reduce powder charge defeating the heavy is better longer range possibilities, should be ok for hunting out to 150 yds.

My modified mauser has been modified to use Romanian 10 rd. single stack mags that are also short but I use the 135 grain .308 Sierra match kings to mag length in the single stacks, it's a good compromise (heavier/good ballistics) out to 450 yards.

Interesting info all around, guess I have to temper my expectations unless I rechamber it.
