Just thinking outside the box here, but has anyone considered replacing the gas tube with some sort of operating rod, in order to have an H&K type left side forward op rod?. Might not be that difficult to do, and would make operating the bolt easier.

There is a guy on YouTube that made a pump ar15 rifle with a tube around the barrel so its not so hard

Just put a setscrew into the gas hole of the gas block. Done. Use a coarse thread setscrew.

Remember "redaily convertable"
