Stripped 700 receivers

Remington is finally selling bare 700 receivers.

This makes it more affordable to build a gun from scratch than to buy a complete one just to strip it down to the bare receiver.

The Stainless versions for just $294 look like a deal, just true it and add a PT&G bolt and go.

Seems kinda steep to me. After shipping tax and transfer you can get a whole rifle and sell off the extras. Cool they are offering them though. Only about a decade behind savage lol.

Remington has offered actions forever, this is an action without a bolt, that's what makes it unique.

$280+100 for shipping and transfer/dross. ~$400 after all is together
The last Turner's weekly add that I saw had some cheap 700 for $499, which is $575 after tax and dros. It's a great deal for someone who wants just an action, but it's likely worth just buying PTGs 700 action with bolt.

For a 300 win mag, you want the standard long action.
They you need a long action magnum (0.550" boltface) bolt.

I would not build a 338 Lapua on a receiver with a 0.700" diameter bolt.
