It's easier to store more rifles in a safe that way since the bolts aren't getting hung up on and bumping into stuff. Same for slings, it's easier to store rifles without slings on them.

I don't do it either and do have some pretty rifles in Cabelas socks, but no bolts removed. He just wants to. Even on an M1A the sock gets a little hung up on the bolt handle.

My question is... I would like to remove the bolts while in storage, do they make storage socks for rifle bolts. I figure with the bolts removed the socks go on easier and rifles take less space in the safe.

I leave the bolts in and store them that way. But I want Just one more rifle and I'm at capacity. This might be a great way to go. (please hold the 'just one more....' jokes)

For those who store bolts separately, suggestions on location? I have no shelf space. I could put them vertical on the back wall (only four bolts), but the hanging hardware would have to be "right" for that to work.

Recommendations?

These are the velcro backed mag pockets with open tops for $10 (12 pockets).

Easy to install and cut to fit anywhere in a carpeted safe with wasted space. Leave enough head room and they should easily fit many bolts and pistol mags and slides.

Nevermind. I'm buying this.
