I want to get lasik but the stories of bad night vision and perpetual dry eyes have scared me off... OP do you have astigmatism or other problems along with the nearsightedness?

Then your specialist should have recommend PRK. When I had mine done I was still running around with the Marines so I could only get PRK for that very reason.Like you, LASIK is out of the question for me... Having seen so many specialists for my eyes (I also shoot service rifle), they have all agreed that the procedure does not outweigh my current lifestyle's risk (high impact, high risk activities). The risk of my corneal flap coming undone is too high...Comment

Not eligible due to my severity of my near vision and shape of my eyeball. Plus my cornea is extremely thin, less than the recommended 400-something microns.
Trust me, I've explored all my options, including seeing one of the best eye surgeons in the country (at UCLA).
The only viable option for me would be a corneal transplant. And since I don't have cataracts, it would be out of pocket and extremely expensive.
