need help for my new rem700

    hi,
I just bought a used rem 700 in 300 win mag, the rifle has hart 28" stainless barrel 1-10 twist, blueprint Remington 700 action by Shawn Thompson at diamond t rifles in Boise Idaho, it has bell and Carlson stock medalist. vortex viper pa scope.

Is this rifle good for long range? 1000+
do i need to replace anything to make better?
    thanks

A 300 Win Mag will more than fit the bill for 1000 yards. In regards to making it better, that will be determined after you shoot it. While it sounds like it should be a shooter, you won't know until you try. Once you shoot it, you can determine what you may need to change to make it better. Lastly, while the rifle may be capable, are you proficient enough to make consistent hits at 1000 yards? All the best equipment in the world will not compensate for lack of individual skill.

Breh- go shoot it, and tell me how far YOU can shoot, and I will tell you how far your rifle can shoot.

Unless you are in a competition, you will need to either become a member of one of the private rifle clubs (difficult), or go with the CalGuns shooting sports guys on their long range shoot this novemeber, what 14th? Something like that. They start shooting out at like 2k, and they get dudes with .308s on target. ya, subsonic, non-lethal energy, blah blah blah, but they hit target.

Your win mag is, of course, capable- but you knew that, and that's why you bought it.

BLM land is your friend, but man, be EXTRA cautious shooting out in the wild- you NEED to make sure you have good vision, a GREAT backstop (read: substantial hill with elevation high above your intended target), know what is on the other side of it. Scout out your shooting site, be conspicuous, and take your time so there is no safety issues.

And for fvks sake, make sure you don't accidentally start a fire.

That's an excellent longrange rifle for an experienced shooter.
It's NOT a very good rifle to LEARN longrange shooting with.
How many rounds have been fired through the barrel?

Where in Angeles is the 600 yard range. Straight newbie here- to the state, to long guns, and the site.
