Looks pretty nice! If they have an 1886 for a low price like that you should get it too.

Is $500 a good price? Any historical issues with this rifle? Any info would be appreciated.

Do you reload? If so, I have found that it likes bullets a little on the large side. Normally, you would use .430" cast lead bullets, but on mine when I slugged the bore it came up .4315". Just looking at the rifling it appears to my eyes that the lands are shallow.

Shooting the .430" bullets gave 50 yard groups averaging 1.1". Shooting .431" bullets gave 50 yard groups averaging .62". And, loading them on the warm side gave better accuracy compared to target loads.

Usually I shoot mine using 44 Special ammo loaded with 240gr LRNFP bullets with a velocity of around 900 fps. Almost no recoil, very pleasant to shoot all day. Young shooters like the small recoil also.

If there is anything at all about the rifle that I do not like, it would be the front sight. It is very short and hard to pick up at times. It's a very minor thing. Definitely not a deal breaker.

Congrats on your new toy. I'm sure you will enjoy it.

Yes I do reload and thanks for the advice. I've read that about bigger cast bullets. I already have an old Rossi M92 (25+years old) that I really love, but might have to go get that 357 too.

I am most definitely interested, but if you think you want the .357 too, I cannot fault you.

            *sigh*

Either way, welcome to the B92 Society. I think very highly of these rifles.

            :-)

It wouldn't hurt my feelings one bit if someone bought it so I couldn't. This honey hole I found is really hurting my wallet. Everytime I go in now he's got something new from the collection there speaking to me.

Thanks for the heads up. I tried calling at 4:50 Pacific Daylight Time, and he must have closed up a lil' early. I might have to make the drive tomorrow.

I'll be picking it up today. Made up a couple hundred rounds for it already. Tested 'em out of my 29-2. I think they'll be just fine!!

These pistol caliber carbines are loads of fun. I don't have a Browning, but I have a Rossi in .44 mag and I am picking up another in .45 Colt. Then I will have matching pistols and revolvers in two of my favorite calibers.

I have been shooting Missouri coated cast bullets out of the .44 over W-231 for a mild load that is pleasant to shoot.

Yes they are. I now have my pistol/rifle combo for .22lr, 22 mag, 38/357, 44 mag, and .45 colt.

I keep saying I'm done, but we'll see...
