    Ruger American Bolt (Damage?)

    Hi,

i was just cleaning my RA when i noticed some dents at the Bolt. The gun is new and i have around 150 rounds fire so far. I never had to use any force wile loading or did drop the bolt or anything! Is this something that can happen and will it affect the rifle?

Those are just machine tool marks left over from manufacturing- nothing to be concerned about.

If concerned contact Ruger. They are good about taking care of stuff. I agree they are harmless

Are you shooting steel cased ammo?

I also think it's superficial. I wouldnt worry about it. They dont look like tool marks from a machine. More like a clumsy person fitting the extractor and dinged it a little..

                Just curious... What caliber?

I ask because they have a recall on the 17HMR and 22Mag. The guy who was supposed to drill the vent hole didn't.

Today any day is a bad day at Ruger. Lots of quality control problems. They cancelled their retirement program and have laid off employees. No more happy workers proud to be doing a quality job. The place is run by bean counters now.

So thanks guys. About the Questions:

                      1. No Steel cased. Ammo is reloaded 40gr Ballistic Tip

                      2. Caliber is .223

Had no problems at all so far, just noticed it wile cleaning and got a bit concerned. I don't like messing with customer services, so i thought i ask here.

Thanks for clarifying it guys. Glad the gun is ok.

There is a white circle stuck to your bolt face, see if removing it helps...

I can't really see much from the picture. I don't think it is an issue. The next time you shoot first time shot brass, look at the base of the cartridge before and after to see if the scratches or whatever is deep enough to imprint on the case. If not, I'd not worry about it.
