I had to wait over 8 months for my last manners. Good stocks but I have vermin to smoke now. Mcrees are in stock today and they get them to you asap. Pick your poison.

Manners has also become REALLY fanboy. The folks "building" R700s act like there are no alternatives. Really, most are going to work fine as you just need it to free float the barrel, have sufficient rigidity, and feel comfortable to you. I highly doubt that most R700 "builders" would see much a difference between a $250 cheapo stock or a $1,000 <<insert fanboy stock/chassis here>>.

Main thing is just getting the action off the whiffle bat into something that feels good.

There are plenty of places where you can order Manners stocks that are in stock. Complaining about the wait for a custom stock is stupid.

Where can I find a 700 s/a Manners stock with a useable configuration in stock?

I've looked many places and see them all backordered, except I've seen the mini chassis for $1000+ and carbon fiber for $1200. No thanks to either.

The inventory changes day by day but there's quite a selection. Call them on the phone and in a week you have one.


Another abomination of a chassis. But I'm bias as I'm not a chassis guy. They all suck ergonomically for myself. Manners, Mcmillan, or B&C Medalist for a cheaper build.

Looks a lot like the XLR element, you can get a new mcree folder for less than that price. And if you want a manners or mcmillan with bottom metal you're going to pay that much as well when you consider the cost of bottom metal too if you want to use detachable mags. Chassis doesn't always = $$$$ I've purchased three Mcrees used, one fixed, two folders, all less than $500. Just went to the site an priced a folder, $790 for everything, All with adjustable butt stocks for pull length and height. Add those in with a manners and it will probably cost more that the chassis listed. I have a Manners on my .22 trainer that I like alot, but I also like my chassis on my comp rifle..

Manners T4A+ 2 flush cups, std fill and PTG inlet is $685. Add PTG bottom metal= $120= total of $805 (not inc Manners shipping charge.)

Its not that far off of many of the chassis systems out there.

Not far off in price, but way ahead in useability.

Assuming the stated MSRP of $808 is accurate, I don't see any mention on either the mega or KI site that this is going to include the pistol grip, buffer tube, and stock. While I wouldn't say they're massive expenditures(well, the stock might be depending on what you go with) it still looks like it has the same problem of the MDT LSS that sounds cheap at $400, but people sometimes forget there's still more money to be spent(unless you happen to have the parts laying around, but if that's the case there are people with manners or other stocks laying around).

Honestly, I'm not seeing why a couple segments of keymod, a sold seperately front accessory rail(for NV or whatever I guess), and their floating magnetic locking lug alignment thing is worth $300-$400 over what other companies are asking for a similar bare or even complete chassis.

I wouldn't suggest any chassis system over a conventional stock with pillars.
I don't like how any chassis system holds the receiver.

The ONLY exception to that statement I would make would be for Gary's RTS with a round lug and set screws supporting the tail of the receiver.

Then, you get to choose the exact configuration you want.
Anytime you order a pre-built stock, you are getting someone else's configuration.

The problem for many people is that they are not yet qualified to choose what they want as they have no experience.
In that case, you buy your first one blind, or listen to people that have been down this road already.
After you get some seat time, you will figure out the parts you like and don't like and then you order a different one for the next rifle.

Be careful who you take advice from as most of the posters probably have about as much seat time behind a custom stock as you do.

That's my problem, and the Manner's configuration page is horrible. Every single option says "no description available." I'll figure it out though.

There is NO substitute for hands-on experience.
Go to matches.
Shoot other people's guns during practices.
Then you can figure out what you want.

Same goes for every other part of the rifle like the trigger, scope, action, etc. Folks will always learn the hard way. I did. I probably have half a dozen rifles I don't use.

At first I thought it was just another XLR... pretty strong resemblance since it looks like the same/similar stock.



I think the AWT is a nice design... I would probably never mount anything forward of the optic anyways aside from a bipod... The tubed hand guards start to get in the way at a certain point too. Plus having to run mounting with a higher height over bore.

I agree. I dont think there is really any way around this.
