NorCal 2000 Yard Match June 7th

Shooters we are holding another 2000 yard match on June 7th.
We will meet up at the Chevron station at the corner of hwy 20 and hwy 29 at 7:30 am.
If you have already shot the matches you can drive up the hill on your own so we don't have a bunch of dusting. For the rest we will caravan up the hill so we don't take a wrong turn.
We have 2500 yards available at this match as well.
We shoot electronically illuminated gongs meaning no pit duty and we shoot free of charge in the rugged mountains of The Mendocino National Forest.
Any locally legal weapon is allowed so bring what you have.
Please go to the URSA website at www.unlimitedrange.org and fill out the release of liability and equipment list and print it out so we have it at the match. This is a requirement.
Any questions call me at 707-791-8147
    Lynn

Hey, that's the same date as the second SoCal match.

I am looking forward to shooting with you. Oh well, perhaps after you recove from your surgery.

My understanding is that the gongs are 36 or 37" circles. I am attending the SoCal match this Sunday, and I plan on aiming at the gongs. What else would you aim at? I'd love to meet some of y'all.

It would be the weekend after the FCSA match and the same weekend my son graduates. Looks like I will miss another one as I doubt my wife will let me come out and play.

I am going in for neck surgery so the dates had to be advanced. I will be down for 2 months in a neck brace so I might have to watch.

Your son graduating is a once in a lifetime opportunity and these matches will be held as often as we have shooters wanting to shoot.

The gong is 37 inches in diameter and you can hold anywhere. WhiteMamba hangs surveyors tape at 50 yards and on the T posts holding up the gong. You can bracket the gong hold for an edge or pick a rock or tree to aim at.
I am thinking skeeter is going to be tough to beat this time so I am bringing out a 338 this time. No names just show up and we shoot.

Yes, but as a match director or even a shooter, we all get tired of that guy that always says he wants to go but then comes up with every excuse under the sun for not making it. I don't want to be that guy...

Am I crazy for trying this with a 30-06 shooting a 208 gr Amax at 2675fps? I am sonic up to about 1500 depending on the weather.

I don't worry too much about who can or can't make it. WhiteMamba is 6 foot 4 inches tall and he hangs up the gong due to my bad neck. Without his muscle we would need 2 shooters to do it. Youth is a wonderful thing.

The website should be posted above and you can look for the releases there.

I think you should bring the 30-06 and give it a try. We won't know if it works until we try it.

How late in the day does it go? I can probably make this one, but will have to work that evening!
