Unknown stock? The one it came with from the factory. Do some DIY gunsmithing on it, pillar bed and free float, it could work pretty good. But gun people are getting like golfers and blame the equipment for any short comings in performance....

I make no bones about my shooting. I have a chests worth of medals that speak for me. The rife comes with Savages "Tupperware" stock, I don't think it is worth the effort to try and improve it, but for $500 I got 18" heavy 5R threaded barrel on the savage action Slap it in a light weight stock and I have a perfect pack gun.

Sorry, didn't know exactly which one you had. The laminated wood looks pretty decent from Savage...they have soooo many models..

I looked at all the fan-boy stocks and decided to go another route. The Choate Tactical Stock that I purchased is great for my doings.

Yes I shoot long range and do all the climbing hills and dales and shooting stuff. It is kind of heavy but if the rifle ever fails I can use the stock as a club.

Brown Precision......since they invented the synthetic stock and still make a better one than Manners or McMillan.
If you can imagine it, they will build it exactly that way.

Any of the AR stock chassis will be far heavier than an HS or B&C stock.
If you are looking for a gun to walk around with, every pound matters...

If a wide selection of stocks and chassis is important to someone, they should buy a remington 700.

There IS a wide selection of stocks and chassis for savage rifles, just not quite as many as a 700.

There are more stocks and chassis systems available for the remington 700s than all other makes/models combined.

Thats not even close to true.



Also Applied Weapon Technologies also offers a chassis for savage rifles, not many people have heard of.

They don't have an aluminum block model for the Savage, but I have the basic laminate version for my Savage and its a great stock for the money at $212.
