Which one do you guys recommend? I need a Pistol safe/box for my Glock 34 to put it under the bed and secure it with a cable lock.

I have the same Stack on, and I love it. I use my 3 fingers on my right hand (index, middle, ring) and I can open it in the dark as the 3 buttons are raised and easy to find at night. I have been very happy with my Stack On products and they are CA DOJ approved.

I am also leaning more towards Stack-on because of the price. Didn't want to spend a lot.

Go for quality, not price! How much did your gun cost? A safe is worthless if it is poor quality.

i dont like trusting my fate on a battery... i mean yeah i guess you do with smoke detectors in a house... I'm a big fan of simplex locks... like Shot Lock, or Fort Knox's pistol box is the most security for the dollar.

you can set the combo to 1 number... or 5... No batteries... always works.

I opted for a Barska Biometric safe for quick and easy access to my HD pistol. Should the battery die, I have the keys stored in a safe and secure location, although I calendar myself to swap batteries every 6 mo.

I also chose this safe so my wife and I wouldn't need to remember a code or sequence of button presses to access, should we wake up in the middle of the night and/or be in a high stress situation. We also stored a number of different fingerprint positions to avoid any delays in opening the safe, in case we failed to line up our finger perfectly. It's been great since day one and when we run drills, it takes about 3-4 seconds to get up from bed and have gun in hand.

It's been great but I also change the batteries every 60 days as the first set of batteries died and I had to use the key once.

Had the same dilemma before. Ended up going with the Gunvault cuz I thought it was built better. Found one for $85ish delivered. Don't remember where, but try one of those Costco vendors. Last one I talked to said they'd honor the show price in their store if I said Costco.

Instead of buying that 2nd one ended up going with a fingerprint one. If I could do it over I would go with another Gunvault. Cost of any brand RELIABLE fingerprint model was out of budget.

You get what you pay for. The guy in this video is a bit melodramatic, but it really is as easy to open the safes as they show. I have a co-worker whose battery died in their Stack-On safe this week. Just like in this video, I opened it with a paper clip.

Just check out the FAS1. Super heavy duty, Simplex lock so no batteries or keys, presents the gun to your hand. Just look at the 6 second video.

jazman, thank you for the link. I have a few older R&D pistol safes that also use SIMPLEX locks, best safes I have ever used, but no longer made. The FAS1 looks to be very similar insofar as construction. I think I'll order one and let ya'll know. The price is inexpensive compared to having your weapon stolen, and the added peace of mind over cheaper models is worth it. True, given time any safe can be compromised, but it looks as though the FAS1 could be welded to a steel structural member that is set in heavy concrete.
