Don't listen to the posters that say to use a hack rear and/or blacked front.

I have done a lot of low to no light shooting, and night sights are ALWAYS a benefit. In training, I've had to use every type - no sights, all blacked out sights, front tritium/hack rear, and night sights. Trust me, nights sights work the best in all conditions.

I've been in plenty of low to no light situations where you can identify the target, but cannot find your sights and don't have a flashlight. Not good. In those situations you have to rely on a perfectly repeatable presentation (muscle memory). Not good for most people.

I've performed well in the dark with all sight types. But in the no-night-sight scenarios I didn't know how well until the lights came on. It's not a comforting situation with no sight picture and you know a bad guy is in front of you.

Unless you're Batman or a Vampire, get night sights.

      I have both.

If only ONE choice then fiber since most all shooting is in well lit areas & fiber just draws in so much light & makes the front site jump out for quicker & easier acquisition. In daylight shooting night sights - and I have many sets of several brands - are just like regular white dots.

Fiber does nothing for you in the dark - unless they're the Hi-Viz night sights. Almost none of my night sights are white dots.

My carry guns have TFO sights (tritium and fiber optic) and the rest of my guns have fiber optic.

wow 50/50 so far...the issue with me trijicon HD's and ameriglos hacks are that they are a bit too wide for a more precise shot at smaller targets or longer ranges. they are great for quick acquisitions in daylight tho.

We just said the same thing really.

You have to select ONE. So, since shooting it light is more often than dark, and fiber has no real value in dark, but does in light. I take fiber.

And of the many pairs of night sights I have - tritium like Mepro - in the day, they look light white dots whereas fiber jumps.

Now, on my several pairs of TFO, they, of course, don't look like white dots of course as they are essentially a hybrid. Those are likely the best all around ONE choice only.

Try the Trijicon HD's or the Ameriglo Spartans. I think you'd be surprised at the visibility during daylight. It's so good and works so well, I've been slowly replacing my fiber optics with them on my competition guns. I also get the added benefit of having night sights on my competition guns.

I especially like the Ameriglo Spartans at night - the version with yellow rear tritium and front green tritium makes it very easy to get a quick sight picture. It's much better than 3 green dots floating around confusing you.

i've abandoned the 3-dot sight system on my w german Sigs and gone back to the OEM factory von Stavenhagen sights for faster front sight acquisition; YMMV.

Night sights are not for shooting in the "dark". They are for the twilight hour. In the pitch dark your light makes it so you can see your irons. They are a tad silhouetted, but they are visible. The time when most people have trouble focusing is during those hours when the sun is first rising or setting and it is half night half day. Night sights solve that problem better than any other solution.

Additionally, they are really easy to pickup during the day. As easy as white dots at least. And there are solutions like the one shown above where they put a bright ORANGE or YELLOW circle around the tritium insert that makes them even easier to pickup. Trijicon calls them their HD sights and Ameriglo calls them their PRO, Hackthorn and SPARTAN sights. I'm a big fan of the SPARTAN model. I'm running them on my Glock 26. But I have traditional 3-dot Ameriglo Tritium sights on my Glock 17 and they work great.

I really like Sig 1911 Night Sights. My TTT has adjustable night sights with a dot on the front sight and a horizontal line on the rear sight, both tritium. Instinctively line right up.

I just don't see the value in Fiber Optic sights. They do nothing for me in the twilight hours and don't find them any easier to pickup during the day.

I too prefer plain ole black sights on everything but a carry gun (night sights). They make it really easy to "focus on the clear tip of the front sight"!
