Depends on the use, but recently the new sights (front glow only) like Trijicon HD or Ameriglo Hack works really well for both competition and combat carry.

I was running fiber fronts then got Trijicon HDs - seem to the best of both words, very bright front and easy to pick up in broad daylight or in darker situations.

              Orange works too.

I like HD front sight and just tritium tube in the back, no paint.

I hate fibers, worthless to me. IMO, if you can't see your sights under a bright sun you have more serious problems. Not as accurate as target style sights, useless during the night, not any faster to pick up then any other dot sights, and they are most prone to failure. Just my opinion.

I had Truglo TFX before switching to Trijicon HD. I had problem finding front sight sometimes with TFX

Neither one of those. A thin black blade front sight provides for the best accuracy without covering up most of your target. If it is too dark for you to see the sights, it is too dark to know what you are shooting at. Also, any kind of dots do not do anything but distracting and compromising a true aim.
For short distance defensive shooting, you should be able to just shoot without aiming or even looking at your sights. If you can not do that within 21 to 30 feet, you certainly need more training and range time. No marketing gimmick is going to fix that problem.
Sorry if this ruffles some feathers.
