    Looking for a pistol

Howdy folks. Never really thought I would be posting here. But I've decided to expand. I am getting my wife a Browning A1 .22 for Valentine's days. While at the LGS I figured lets see what they have a 9mm.

No I have to decide which one I want. What was brought out for me was a Springfield XD-9, which is really what I am thinking of going with. A Glock 19 (the 17 isn't in the store), Beretta M9 or a CZ.

I'm real new to pistols as it has been a real long time since I've shot one. The Beretta is the only one I have heard something bad about. I am looking to keep the price down, the CZ is really a little high..........

I have other things in sight too. lol C&R related.

    I appreciate any help.

Those are all good pistols. Get the one that feels best in your hands and go with it.

I have shot all of the ones you mentioned (well, there are a bunch of CZ's in 9mm so probably not all, lol), and the best advice I can give you without getting into my personal preference is to rent them at a range and try them out.

What pistol may be good for one may not be good for another just because of preference. Oh, and also planned usage.

If you wanna know my preference of the 4 you mentioned, it is a CZ in 9mm, specifically a CZ SP01.

Good luck and enjoy the journey of finding a pistol for you!

I agree. Try and get out and rent as many as you can and see what feels good.

Jim. The most popular 9 is the Glock 19. If it feels good to you, you can't go wrong with that choice. Good Luck

Don't worry... This is just "the first pistol you're going to buy." You really can't go wrong with any of those you listed

Thanks folks. I do appreciate the input. I will get my wife's pistol first (buy both at once) than the 30 day wait for mine. I'm getting a new hip on the 5th so it will be that long before I can go to the range anyway.

How about a 1911 in 9mm.. Aren't the Phillipino made ones around $500? That way you can both have the same manual of arms..

Wowza, can't go wrong with any of them. Renting is certainly the best option. Have you thought about what you would be using it for and how much shooting/training you would do? Righty or lefty? Etc...

Might help narrow down the selection based on that...

Jim....good Doctors and speedy recovery on the new Hip..

It wouldn't be hard for your wife to get her FSC. That way you each could buy your guns without waiting one in thirty.

                          Be well

I'm a lefty. Which is one of the reasons I steered away from autos. Way back when I was in the Navy, I had a hell of a time at first with those .45s and the ejecting round. By the time I got out, I didn't understand why I had a problem in the first place. lol
It will be mostly for target shooting. I also want to sign up for a beginners class with my wife.

ok, now. I've been looking around a bit, I love my Mosins. Tokarev 7.62x25. I've seen they are a pretty good pistol. Maybe a heavy trigger? Do they hold up to my earlier choices at all?
