Springfield Armory TRP vs MC Operator

I just picked up my new half rail TRP couple days ago. Someone mentioned earlier in thread was off roster? I didn't SSE as of few weeks ago.

Hefty gun but I like the weight, not sure why but I've been on a 1911 buying spree this year. Interested to see how it shoots vs couple other 'higher end' 1911's I have.

The front checkering is very aggressive and along w the 'gritty' grips (drawing a blank on who makes the grips for the TRP) it comes with it definitely won't be slipping out of my hands. Love the feel of it but might be switching out snakeskin looking grips for all black. Haven't shot it so can't really comment on that but don't think can go wrong with a TRP in your collection, great 1911 that I plan to own rest of my life.

Not sure how this 1911 bug got me this year since I own all types of semis in 9mm and .45 but just love shooting my 1911s at the range. And also given the fact that not one of my 4 1911s has ever had one fte/ftf w any type of ammo, going back 5 years when bought my first one, a SW1911, I trust my life with them and keep one cocked and locked as bedside gun. I'm sure the TRP will not let me down and may become my new HD gun once I gain confidence in it w my JHPs.

Nice buy. But the half rail TRP is indeed not on the roster and unless your exempt, should have been SSE'd. Your FFL must have used the PC9105LCA model number which is for the full rail TRP which is on the roster. The half rail is model number PC9105L.

Half rail is off roster, so need to be exempt or PPT.

I would go with the TRP! I own both and prefer the TRP over th MC. IMO

Not accurate. The TRP is not a SACS gun. It receives better fitting, finish and selection of parts, but it is still a production pistol, not a custom. Don't get me wrong, it's still one of the best production 1911s out there, though (I own a full rail TRP myself).

Good clarification, I'm sure it was my poor recollection of my buddies comments as its been many years ago now.

Missive from the Springfield Armory Custom Shop: "The TRP pistol is a factory pistol which has been upgraded with more hand fitting than a standard factory pistol, as well as a 2 piece mag well, night sights, and better tuning internally. It has a quoted accuracy of 2.5" or better at 25 yards with match ammunition. It has the front cocking serrations and full length guide rod, just like the other factory "loaded" models. These pistols are finished with Springfield's Armory Kote finish, which is a painted on, baked on finish similar to the Black T finish."

Add that aggressive front strap checkering to the list. I'm guessing its like 15dpi? The TRP is a beast! I really want one in stainless...not that the loaded models are bad at all...

I believe it's 20LPI for the TRP...

You know what my brother? You will never in life regret taking a step up. There's nothing wrong with the MC, and I'm still considering getting one because I think they are too cool for school... But I bought a TRP a few months ago and it really is a step up in fit and finish etc. You'll never miss that $250 a month or two from now.
