Springfield Armory TRP vs MC Operator

Is the TRP (non-rail) Stainless worth $250 more than the MC Operator? I was going to pull the trigger on the MC Operator today. Then my nephew told me that I can get a TRP for $250 more. So I called the guy and he did verify the price.

This is an extremely subjective question. The MC Operator is in the Loaded class. They are great guns. The TRP is in a class of its own. In my own subjective opinion, it's a significantly better gun, and it's well worth the extra money.

I am in North Bay and thanks for the link. I think $1500.00 OTD for TRP Stainless is a pretty good (cash) deal.

I would go with the TRP! I own both and prefer the TRP over th MC. IMO

I have the TRP and a buddy of mine that carries one for a living and was in a position to know the minutia between these models went through the differences with me [which I can't remember] and then said,' the TRP is essentially a weapon a master pistolsmith in the Springfield custom shop has went all out on- thats worth the extra $$.'

Now he trusts his life to this pistol regularly......I'm not even in the same universe as he is, I'm just a range plinker so was it worth the extra couple hundred dollars???? He sure thought it was....

I just picked up a lightweight operator and am planning on getting a non rail trp in the spring.
the trp is a level up from the loaded series and the professional is the top dog for springfield sd/hd pistols

Not accurate. The TRP is not a SACS gun. It receives better fitting, finish and selection of parts, but it is still a production pistol, not a custom. Don't get me wrong, it's still one of the best production 1911s out there, though (I own a full rail TRP myself).

If you haven't done so already you should hold the TRP and get a feel for the front strap checkering. The TRP is one of the best production 1911s out there, but that checkering is one of the more common complaints about it.

Of course you could always get both...

Agreed on 100% of this statement and I also own a full rail trp and a Couple other Springfield 1911's. In my opinion the trp is One of the best bargains in the gun world when had at regular prices. Here in America where I live you can get them for around $1300. The stainless model has been on my short list for a while now.

from a price stand point, I don't think $250 is that much more for the TRP.

I have a MC Operator. I replaced the grip and added magwell adapter. those two parts alone should bring that gap much closer. So as everyone else already suggested, go for the TRP.

I also say yes to spending a little more and going with the TRP. But I biased, I own 3 of them. 1 which got some love from SACS.
