2015 Springfield 1911 Operator MC & LB

I have 3 Long Beach Operators and paid a pretty penny for them last year before SSE ended.

One of which is the original Custom shop version (by serial number) issued from Proforce to the LBPD in a blue case. The serial number was engraved on the slide and barrel.

The others I have are the PX9105LLP models which are same things but in a black operator case. One of these was customized by SACS by checkering the front strap and adding a nighthawk magwell, and changed ambi safety to a righty. The LLP versions only had an engraving on the slide, NOT on the barrel.

We'll see if Springfield decides to make two versions of the MC Operator, one for CA and one for everywhere else. The new MC operator already has a new product code so chances are 50/50 right now.

Anyone know how many long beach operators were originally made? Seems like there were a lot and proforce got stuck with a bunch of them.

Adopt Specifications PA-00908 and award a contract to ProForce Law Enforcement for 190 Springfield Operator Pistols, Model #PX9105MLP, in the estimated amount of $213,569.00 plus a 10 percent contingency if necessary, for a one-time purchase .

Per the RFP: SCOPE OF WORK
The Contractor shall provide 190 Springfield Armory 1911A1 Operator, model
PX9105MLP with lightrail; Smith & Alexander magazine well, with mainspring cap; 170 pistols with single sided combat safety; 20 pistols with ambidextrous safety; Novak night sights, front and rear dovetailed; Micarta composite grips, black; Ejector to be pinned in place; no other method will be accepted; each pistol will include five ( 5) Wilson ETM magazines.

It should be noted that the original 190 were labeled as model number PC9CUS and were delivered in the older style blue cases

An 8+1 gun would not be my cats meow of a duty gun. Give me an fnx 45acp 15+1. Or an m&p 40 full size long slide 15+1.

I love 1911s, but they seem kinda stupid for a duty gun. Really heavy means back problems, low capacity means hitting the bad guy problems, manual safety means forgetting to take the safety off problems.

Proper training should solve all those issues, have you considered some proper training.

Back problems from carrying a 1911... that's pretty original.

Guess you're not factoring in the weight of the ammo. Average weight of a 1911 with 8 rounds of 230 grain 45's is about 44oz. A Glock 21 with 14 rounds of the same ammo is about 40oz.

So yup, those additional 4oz are a pita on the lower back. And we'll ignore the weight of the extra mags that are fully loaded...

not sure how you forget to disengage the safety on a 1911
