    CZ 75 vs RIA 1911

    Hey, y'all.

I'm looking to get a pistol for both back-up while hunting (boar), which I plan on doing about once a month, and for LTC when Santa Clara County finally gets their collective heads out of their asses.

My conundrum, is which pistol do I get???

I want a low cost pistol that can take heavy use in the field.

I'm partial to 1911's, but CZ's look awesome and I'm always willing to learn more about different firearms.

Well. I think you need to hit that boar with as big a round as possible so of the 2 Go 1911 in 45 ACP of better still 10MM. I've seen hogs soak up 40 S&W hits so I can't feature how a 9mm would be any better.

I thought all you needed for boar was a couple good dogs and a knife

whichever gun you shoot the fastest and most accurately, IMO.

Always the correct answer to "which is better" threads.

OP is looking at 2 weapons which are bordering on huge for concealed carry, and at 2 calibers which I would rate as OK for hog backup but on the light side.

So far, it sounds like he likes the 9mm since it "looks awesome".

I would suggest something in 9mm or .45 that's a bit smaller..."looks awesome" means zero if the weapon is concealed.

I would also suggest something larger in caliber for hog backup. I like a .357 or .41 revolver. Ymmv.

10mm RIA no question out of the 2 options. Don't eff around with pigs that are gonna be charging. Saw a vid where a dude had to shoot a pig 3 times with a 454. Your 9mm CZ isn't going to help you much on a pissed animal.

Unless OP is thinking about RIA in 9mm, these are completely different animals.

Basic GI RIA .45 is a great pistol, and is significantly cheaper, but would hold fewer rounds in a standard mag, while offering more punch.

CZ 75 is great, but will cost more. It will have two more rounds in a standard mag. I am not a hunter, so I don't know how well a 9mm round would perform against a boar.

Nowhere close to something from a magnum revolver.

No advantage in hog hunting for large magazines v. a revolver, either.

yeah i'm with Hanko. They are probably both relatively equally not ideal, so might as well go for the one you shoot best.

These are heavy guns, consider something that won't pull your pants down as your bumbling around in the bush, i.e. a glock
