      The California version could easily be done on a different production line, simply because the slide is so different than the standard version. Also realize that they probably have several machines that roll the stamping on the slides. You are bound to get some variation due to wear and the settings on them. It really doesn't matter all that much, and won't effect the value or function at all.

        I think the roll marks are actually machined or laser engraved. Stamping steel usually leaves some raised edges or other ugliness.

        LOL, and these slides are definitely not cast, much less cast with the roll marks in place, LOL! They are machined from bar stock.
