    p226 9mm mag feed issues?

    Hey All!

So I went to the range last night to try out my new Sig P226 Enhanced Elite 9mm! Myself and a couple buddies headed to The Gun Range on Balboa. WHAT A NICE RANGE!!!! I went in with one task on my mind. Break the new girl in! I shot 200 rounds through it and it worked great for the most part! I had 2 bricks of Blazer brass and one bulk box of 100rnd American Eagle brass. The pistol ate through the Blazer brass with flying colors.

I then started shooting the AE brass. I have 4 mags, 2 blocked 15rnd mags that came with the pistol and I bought 2 10rnd mags to have a few more. The AE brass shot fine with the standard 10rnd mags, but when I tried to shoot the AE brass with the blocked 15rnd mags, it would shoot 9, the slide would lock back and one was still in the mag perfectly seated. I could close the slide shoot the last round and the slide would lock back again. It ONLY happened with the blocked mags my pistol came with.

Has anyone else had this issue? My guess is it could be the ammo. The blazer brass shot perfectly every time. Maybe the spring in the mags isn't providing enough pressure on the last round for it to feed? I fully cleaned the pistol before going to the range. I didn't clean the mags before shooting.

I highly doubt it was the gun's fault.

Blocked mags tend to be unreliable since the blocking method tends to mess with the function of the magazine.

I also think its the blocked mags fault. U can unblock it then shoot it to see if its still having problems. But that would be illegal

yea wasn't going to do that at the Range! HAHA

I will take a look at the mags to see where they are built. I don't blame the firearm at all. I am thinking mags also! It is SOOOO ACCURATE! Is there something wrong with mags made in the USA or Italy? Honestly thinking about buying a bunch of 10rnd mags and saving the blocked mags for a "rainy day".. *oh wait... it's raining right now*

The block is in the bottom of the mag where as the 10rnd mags, the block is at the top. It is very odd..

If it does say made in USA they are kinda crap, those are made by Checkmate. The ones that came with mine are pretty good and they haven't malfunction yet, knock on wood. The made in Italy mags are great, and right now there is a sale on them you can get one for like $22 bucks OEM, or you can just buy some aftermarket Mecgar for like $19.

Here's a link to keep an eye on once they come back in stock. I think it took them 2 days to sell out. They are indeed Mecgars with made in Italy btw.

Blocked mags are a gamble sometimes function normally sometimes you wanna take a mini sledge to em. There's nothing wrong with your Sig just get some new 10rd mags, sell your Blocked mags.
