yes, you can keep the threads on a MK23 barrel just like you can on an AR-pistol, just need a maglock on it.

set up that MK23 to have a fixed mag like the AR pistol does, and you can have all the evil features on it without violating CA law.

Other than the 6" barrel min, the only other reason I could see is to avoid creating an AOW if you put a VFG on your >26" OAL pistol. Allegedly, unpinned muzzle devices do not count for that OAL measurement.
