Ar pistols. Do the muzzle devices need to be pinned?

just like the title says. Do they need to be pinned? Even on a rimefire build?

To meet the 6" minimum it should be.

Using a 7.5 inch on my 556 upper and a 7 inch for my 22lr. It doesn't seem like anyone else pins their barrels judging from the ar pistol pic thread, or at least they dont mention it at all.

Nope - not needed because your AR pistol will be maglocked here in CA (which allows for threaded barrel)

Absolutely yes. (Blowback systems do not require the gas tube or a specific barrel length)

So it is a compliant single shot. Only need to worry about it for initial build or DROS. Better to build or DROS with a 7.5" then after build or DROS is complete you can go whatever length barrel you want.

Threaded barrels are Ok on pistols as long as they have a mag lock / bullet button. AR pistol must have mag lock since the mag is outside the grip, so yes, you can also have a threaded barrel with a removable muzzle device.

The SSE process requires a minimum 6" barrel.

If I were to buy a MK23 with an SSE threaded barrel @ 6" a mere 1/4" more than the OEM barrel, this would mean I can keep the threads? Doesn't make sense that the AR pistol can circumvent this loophole, yet a normal pistol cannot.
