    M&P owners with conversion barrels

I'm thinking of getting a 40 to 9 conversion barrel for my full size 40 and wanted to know what to expect. Any long term issues? How is accuracy and functionality?

I purchase a factory barrel from MidwayUSA and it has perform flawlessly, as for accuracy is more accurate than I am.

They have them on BO and many do the barrel switch and state no loss in accuracy:

I've been toying too long with the storm lake in stock but twice and much. get what you pay for!

I'll Try to make this short.
I have had a 9c barrel on back order at Midway for several months and was getting impatient so I called S&W to see if I could get one from them. The customer service rep I talked to check and they had them in stock. I was able to place an order and received an order number. A couple weeks had gone by and I hadn't heard anything so I called again to find out the status of my order. The rep I spoke to this time was very surprise that I was able to order a barrel. She said they no longer sell barrels to the public because they don't want people to put 9mm barrels in 40S&W slides. After being on hold for a real long time she came back and said that my order would NOT be filled. That was last Tuesday. Friday when I was checking my bank statement I saw a charge for $82.42 from S&W. Monday of this week I received the 9c barrel in the mail.
So I guess it just depends on who you talk to at S&W's customer service.

From what I've read on the S&W forum, the Shield barrels are next to impossible to get. S&W doesn't even offer them to vendors like Midway & Brownells.

Paid the big money for the lake storm barrel - got a couple of factory mags

True Drop In - take gun down, reassemble with 9mm barrel - pop new mag in - shoot

Nice when taking the wife out - I can switch to 9 for her without buying her a gun (she's a once a year shooter)

I carry the 9 barrel and mag in my range bag and can change in a matter of minutes.

Don't over think it - buy one and get shooting. It's like having another gun for the price of a barrel / mag.

No jams - I think more accurate than factory barrel -

                Steve

My wife originally bought her M&P compact in the 40 S&W, but when we spent some time at the range on our own it was a little to snappy for her. That's why I picked up a 9mm barrel about a year and a half ago. Now we have 9mm barrels for my FS and another compact we picked up before they fell off roster. When I take new people shooting I start them off with a 22lr the move them up to a FS with 9mm barrel in it. This seems to be working pretty well. Oh, and my wife still shoots her's with the 9 barrel.

It would be nice to be able to buy the 40 slide and barrel. I bought a 9mm and didn't know that I could of just bought a 40 and switched out the barrel.

If anyone knows where I can get these items please let me know.

I bought the OEM 9mm barrel for my M&P40c a couple of years ago and it has been flawless when I switch shooting .40 and plink away with 9mm.

I did, got the Storm Lake barrel. Haven't shot the gun much yet but both seem to work fine.

No issues. It works. It's as accurate as you are capable of.

I have the 357SIG barrel for my 40. Of course with the recent ammo crisis I haven't been able to feed the girl but it's nice having options. The few rounds I did send down it felt great.
