Did anyone buy SSE guns with their kids in mind?

Aside from getting guns you wanted and/or wanted to flip ... did anyone think "Hmm, my kid would love this on his/her 18th birthday, or as a graduation gift or whatever".

I know that during the "OMG, Ruger 10/22 assault rifles!" frenzy of last year, I panicked and bought an overpriced 10/22 so that one day my girls could shoot with it/have it. (And ironically, 10/22s have returned to their normal price, despice one Big 5 manager tell me "We will NEVER get anymore of these in. Ever" (he actually said that).

Maybe you think your kid will shoot USPSA with you, so you bought an STI 2011 or something?

So did anyone buy a nice SSE gun to save for their kid? A nice 1911 perhaps?

Meh, you never know what it is that kids want nowadays.

They would probably prefer a car when they turn 16.

I am just hoping my kids are gun nuts like I am. I am also hoping when I have kids, that they don't get brainwashed by the extremely left wing teachers we have these days.

I picked up a few. a lower for each kid for when they turn 18 for us to build together. the. a CZ 452 to learn on in lieu of a cricket since the cz takes single shot sleds and 5 or 10 round mags. then I picked up a ruger 10/22 for them to step up to a semi auto. I also picked up a sig mosquito for a first handgun. looking how heavy it is in DA though I'm looking to pick up a gsg/sig 1911-22.

In the spirit of kids often driving older Bimmer/Benz, I'm gonna keep two HKs for the two of mine.

I don't have kids, so no.

Also I can't even afford a nice 1911 for my self, let alone my little twerp, if I ever pop one out. He'll get a pop can and like it!

lol missed the SSE part. so apparently no I didn't. I'm trying to be hopeful they won't have to deal with the roster by the time they become of age.

No. I don't buy to "save" for the kid. My son and I share it right away. After taking it home, we head to the range ASAP. He knows that they (all the guns I own) are his sometimes in the future. There's no point for me to think that I need to save it for him.

Yeah....I have 5 kids. And yes, I bought certain of roster handguns and even some Rifles, reloading components.....ammo I have to hide.

They all shoot and own guns. (From Dad). They have guns I bought years ago and haven't seen since.....haha.

I am spoiling my youngest daughter. Built her a cool AR Rat Rifle in her favorite color and a Glock 19 from a frame. Others as well.

Fewer people are killed with all rifles each year (323 in 2011) than with shotguns (356), hammers and clubs (496), and hands and feet (728).

You know we are in a sad state here in California when we rush to buy guns that we may pass down to our kids because there might come a time when we won't be able to get them here ever again.

Never really crossed my mind honestly... but I guess so.

IMO I would never feel comfortable just "giving" an 18 year old kid a gun. Going shooting with them sure... but I would never just give them a gun untill they re atleast 25 and they ve proven they re not a hot-head or irresponsible person.
