I also have another question... Read up .357 magnum is not a good idea for home defense. So far, shooting the 357, albeit did not shoot much of it due to costs. 38 special +p actually recoils like my 9mm sig... Being very short barrel, I did not notice the large flashes from the 38 or the 357... I am going to practice that later and turn off the lights to see if I can shoot without blinding myself. Had some reloads in 9mm and those made a lot of flash....

Also is lighter rounds for home defense worse than heavier gr bullets? I bought 357mag 125gr hornady critical defense... I know the need for higher velocities... but doesn't that lead to over-penetration? Thanks all.

I'm gonna guess that if something goes bump in the night you will care about none of this as you go to investigate carrying your 357. (whether long or short +p.)

For a serious personal defense round its hard to beat the 357. After shooting a lot of 357 magnums I have decided that I will not be using it for home defense. Shooting full power 357's on an indoor range with hearing protection I have found the concussion and blast to be serious enough that I would not want to subject myself to that in confines of even my living room. Not to mention potential over penetration issues. I have decided that 38+p is a better choice.

Shoot it

Shoot it till it's warm and wipe it with a rag before letting it cool. Take a standard GI brush with you to the range, and give all the nooks and crannies a quick brushing before you leave the line.

Getting to the carbon before it hardens is the secret to easy cleanup and pretty SS revolvers.

Found PPU 357 mag 158 gr to have virtually no noticeable muzzle flash, which I was actually surprised with... I noticed 38 spl I shot had some powder still burning with the muzzle flash. But dang, the PPU 357 kicked.... Need to work on how I hold it to get the grip right to handle the recoil... Thanks all for your replies... And yea the lead away cloth was awesome... A couple of questions? Should I use like a CLP after cleaning to keep the gun from possibly rusting? Also is the lead-away cloth bad to touch the wood grips? Handling the cloth and then holding the grip, noticed my hand still have that waxy feeling. I've been doing this method. lead-cloth --> normal cloth to wipe the lead away --> clp to protect it after.... Is this a good way?
