I'm with you...shot one and loved it. I love the MC Operator, but a little spendy. I've decided on the Springfield 1911 Loaded SS PI9132LP model in .45 acp. Would be my only .45. Could go 9mm, but seems like a 1911 should be .45. Can find them in the 830-850 range new.

If you have a SSE slot left, I would get a 1911 in 9mm. SA Range Officer (within budget), STI Duty1 (over budget), DW PM9 (double budget).

Will not be your last, you can get a 45 next year that is on roster. A stainless Trophy Match or stainless TRP will go well with your 9mm Range Officer.

So after shooting a Springfield 1911 .45 I must say I really like it. I love the feel, trigger, and accuracy of the gun.

I really want one now, but I for the price it may take sometime to save up.

I was wondering what are some 1911s you guys would recommend in .45 caliber?

Excuse my newbiness, but do all 1911s shoot the same? I really want something similar like the springfield. I definitely fell in love with it.

You picked the right time of the year. Everything is on sale now. Both Springfields and Sigs are very nice 1911s. Check out Grabagun.com. They are running a great sale on both now. If you like to see different ones and play with them, go to "rifle grear" in fountain valley or any shop near you. 1911s are very common in stores. !911s are great in any calibers.
If you hurry up, you can still get an off roster one thru SSE if the model you pick is not on CA roster.

I have a SS Springfield "Loaded" and it's very nice. If you can find a good deal on one I don't think you can go wrong with it. Great warranty service if you ever need it.
I should have stopped with my Springfield. I recently bought a kimber Raptor and so far - lets just say- the wanting was better than the having.

Honestly, I generally dislike Ruger, but their 1911 is probably the best one available at your budget. It is off-roster so if you want it, you need to buy it now because it won't be available come January.

Sig and Springfield are the two other highest quality 1911s in your budget. Rock Island Armory is the one to get if you want to spend even less than your budget can allow. All of those have on-roster versions so are widely available.

Yep, a Rock Island Armory is a great choice and under your budget. All steel even the mainspring housing ( unlike Kimbers plastic MS housing). I have some higher end 1911s, but the RIA one is still a favorite of mine due to bang for the buck.

I think those guns are a little more than $800. You might as well be recommending a Wilson combat for a starter 1911.
