Colt defender 9mm or 45acp pros cons

I've been debating the same question for a couple of months now but my issue is that if I get the 9mm, I have to do an SSE and don't want to use my last slot for something that I can get in 45ACP or buy the EMP anytime next year. I think the 9mm out of a 3 inch barrel would be much easier to control. Smaller caliber but two more rounds. Along with lessor recacoil, more likely to hit what you intend to hit.

Back to my issue. If I decide to get a 3 inch on SSE, I'd debate the 9mm Defender against the Night Defender II in 45 ACP.
