I feel the comp on my extar is one of the nice features that makes this pistol. Only thing I want to do to mine is handguard like the one above and red dot.

    what handguard is that?

Thanks for sharing your experience depart, and thanks for asking the question OP... I was wondering if there were better options too but sounds like it's wise to leave the stock brake on there.

And this was the info. I got from New Frontier.

the muzzle brake on the EXP is a big part of the recoil reduction system and we don't recommend removing it. Extar has stated that removing it would void your warranty as well.

If you insist on removing it you must use a bbl vice or torsion bar to fixture the bbl before you remove it.

          Refering to quote:

I was specifically warned against trying to clamp on the gas block, which is the only exposed area one could clamp on. It's Aluminum, and was told clamping on it could deform it and loose the gas seal on the inner diameter. They said the Torsion(reaction) Rod was the only acceptable method. Just thought I'd pass along and hope it save someone some headaches.

The pistol runs fine stock, no malfunctions with any type of ammo..I like it a lil better than a original ar pistol imo.
