    question about AR pistol

do you need a bullet button if your mag only holds 10?

if you have a bullet button, can you run 10+rds? (same question for AR rifle also?)

    1. Yes.
    2. No. unless your mag is from pre-ban. However, even if they are pre-ban, there are specific city ordinances (ie, SF, Sunnyvale) that don't care if they're pre-ban and disallow any mag above 10rds.

For every $1 spent on a firearm, you should spend $2 training with it.

Remember, if SHTF.. And zombies are out to eat you... A magnet and magazine rebuilt kits/tinkering a blocked 10/30 mag will save your life.

You friend needs to avoid using those mags with an AR pistol anywhere in the state. Period, no way is that legal at all.
Mag lock= no mags holding more then 10 rounds no matter what.
AR pistols need a mag lock to be legal.

Walter, let's be clear on this.

              1. All AR pistols must have a bullet button. Regardless of what mags you might legally own.

              2. Any AR pistol or AR rifle (for example) the maximum mag capacity you can run is 10 rounds. Installing a high cap preban magazine into a gun with a bullet button is a felony. Doing that makes the gun an assault weapon.

              3. So your friend must only run 10 round mags and never hi cap mags.

              Got that?

Basically what I learned last week was this.

AR15's and AR pistols have the same rules.

Both must be blocked to 10 rounds and use bullet buttons.

If not, one is an assault rifle, the other is an assault pistol. So in Layman's terms, 10 rounders and mag locks is all you get in this wonderful state.

OP, if you want to keep it simple, don't use the AR or AK platforms. Done.
