November and December are still left to get what you want! I picked up a 224 to compliment my 229 and a 227 to fill the .45 void I had. The classic Sigs will probably remain the same and on the roster. If you want that extreme edition or other specialty two-tone, whatever Sig, you need to act now as probably the plain jane models will be left on roster.

Yes the number of Gen3's (also Gen2's and 1's for that matter) in the field vastly outnumber the Gen4s but that is not the reason for Glock to continue production of Gen3's. Glock would cease production of Gen3s like it did for Gen 1's and 2's if it were not for the lucrative CA market that won't allow the Gen4's in under the current handgun roster requirements. Contrary to what you are saying, CA is a HUGE market despite all the gun laws..that's why Glock still keeps the Gen3 model - it's too good to walk away from. CA has the largest population of any state at 37 million people and holds 12% of the American population. In fact you would have to add up the populations of the 21 smallest states to equal CA! BTW, Buds Gun Shop, one of the larger national gun retailers recently published their top sales states...guess who was #1? yes, California...hmm. Search for that in this forum.

New agency purchases around the world all moving from the Gen3 to Gen4 as guns are retired, many with Glock's nudging help. Glock need not do anything more than stock a few unique Gen3 parts to maintain those customer's Gen3 guns...they don't have to keep making Gen3's. An end to Gen3 production is where they would like to go (just like end to Gen 1 and 2), but again CA is too lucrative. Btw, I had this discussions with Glock Execs at Shot Show 2013 so I'm not speculating. Btw, No other state has a roster such as CA, the restrictive ones just place explicit bans on capacity, features, etc.

that was an interesting read, jimsguns... thanks for the info.

i sort of laugh at Bud's though... they sell tons of guns here but aren't willing to ship off-roster for SSE... maybe it's because they sell so much on-roster stuff here, i suppose? seems like a strange business decision, anyhow.

curious... are there any major police agencies that are fielding the Gen4 Glock here in CA? or, are most are still running Gen3 unless officers purchase their own?

while S&W didn't completely walk away from CA, it must have been an interesting discussion among their management when they decided to forego the entire CA (consumer) market for the M&P pistols other than the SDV and Shield series (plus revolvers). similar situation with Ruger, but last I read, they had some financial difficulty this last quarter.

The Larry Vickers special edition Glock is a gen 3. Supposedly he prefers the gen 3 vs 4.

                I currently have a German 229 in .40 and 239SAS in 9mm and have owned the 226 in 9mm and the 224SAS in .40.

I liked the 224 but it had a lot of FTF issues but SIG may have since worked out all of the issues in .40. I eventually sold it in favor of funding a Guncrafter CCO for my EDC.

The 229 is an awesome gun and I havent had any issues with it. It serves as my current HD pistol because its a little too thick to carry IWB.

My 239 SAS is awesome but I sent it to Gray Guns for a little reliability and trigger work. Its my back up carry gun now and I highly recommend the platform.

The Stainless Elite is a different gun than the Enhanced Elite and it is not on the roster. Get one before the end of the year, it's a beautiful gun and the softest shooting 9mm I ever handled - of course part of that is because it's steel framed and weighs a lot.
