What's the difference between...CZ75B & SP-01?

I'm looking to buy my 4th CZ for the Jan 15. The 3rd one being the 97BD which I will dros in DEC. I'm currently looking at the SP-01. I'm a bit curious as to what's so special about this that everybody seems raving about? Other than having a rail, a sporty looking slide, the SP-01 doesn't look that much different than any other 75B. I'm not here to knock the SP-01, just a bit curious as to why it remains so popular among CZ enthusiasts. It's gonna fall of the roster on Jan 15, so naturally I want to get one before the deadline. But prior to plunging down my hard-earned $$$, I want to know what makes it so special?

Please note that I'm only asking about the stock CZ's, not the all-souped up from Cajun.

Current CZ stable:

• 75 P-01 9mm
• 75B .40 cal
• 97BD .45ACP (currently on UPS truck and on its way to my FFL and will dros in Dec)
  
• 75 SP-01 (Jan 15?)

The railing adds a TON of positive weight that helps manage the recoil of the pistol better than most guns. Another reason "complain" they are too heavy.

The SP-01 looks good, but the thing for me is it shoots and handles GREAT. The SP-01 rental I used was very accurate, smooth, decent trigger for stock, and great FEEL w/ergos, weight, and recoil. I bought one a few days later....in jail now.

Night sights, higher beavertail (better ergonomics) heavier barrel, cushy rubber grips, added weight up front soaks up some recoil...

Get it, you won't regret it. My SP-01 is my best shooter.

Although i prefer the CZ75 over the SP-01 once they are customized, if you plan on keeping your new CZ stock i would suggest the SP-01. The SP-01 comes with noticeably better sights (stock CZ75 sights are not great) and due to its increased weight it has a better balance and shoots a little better out of the box once broken in. I believe that for most people the popularity of the SP-01 lies in how it looks and its weight distribution. I have found that the SP-01 is little easier for most people to shoot accurately without allot of practice.

Every CZ collection deserves at least one SP-01. Out off all of my CZ's, my SP-01 Safety model is the most likely to remain stock.

As far as i have heard the only pistols in the CZ lineup that are likely to not be renewed are the three listed below. This information was quoted from someone at CZ USA, none of this is absolute.
CZ97B (Black) 01401 / Steel (current roster model in no longer manufactured)
CZ83 (Glossy Blue) 01301 / Steel (I have not heard the reasoning on this one)
CZ75 Tactical 01100 / Steel (This model has never been real common in my findings, its a 75B w/ a green frame, lanyard loop main spring plug and rubber grips)

Good luck with your decision, i do not think you can go wrong ether way, they are both great pistols.

Rail for your accessories and added weight to reduce recoil for faster followup shots, upswept beavertail to get a high positive grip, and the slide release lever is easier to maneuver than other 75 series models. Overall it's a smooth shooter and the SP-01 just simply looks great; everything about the SP-01 just flows well.

Last question though: Would you guys consider the 75 compact the same or equal to the 75 P-01? I already have the P-01, but think about getting another copy just in case since I like it so much. I don't want to have only one copy should the unthinkable happens, such as being stolen or lost etc...

I know the 75 compact doesn't have rail. Other than getting 2 copies of the same gun, I can get one of each. I think I can live w/o the rail on the compact. Just want to know if there is any short comings of the gun (75 compact).

The 75 Compact has a Steel frame and comes with a safety. The P-01 (rail) and CZ75D (PCR) (No rail) have aluminum frames and come with decockers. The 75 Compact will be a little heaver. The non-rail steel famed compacts have scalloped indentations (like a CZ75B) at the front of the frame while the alloy compacts have angled flats. Otherwise they are very much the same.

This is why I went with a Canik Stingray. It has a full rail of the P01 and the steel frame and manual safety of the 75b compact and it much cheaper than both.

I picked up an SP-01 and it was one of the nicest natural fitting guns to my hand since the DWM Luger. I'm set on getting one but waiting until January after SSE (in it's current form) goes away as it's still on the Roster through 1/31 AND it's likely CZ will renew it anyway.

(That is to be - unless I can get my hands on a CZ 75 SP-01 Shadow Target or CZ 75 SP-01 Accu-Shadow to SSE).

The CZ 75D with the SKU# 01194 is the one with the decocker? It's off roster by the end of the year. Hopefully, they renew it. Otherwise, I'll settle with another copy of the P-01.

PS: How your 97B working out for you, buddy? Hope you worked out the bug. Mine just arrived at the FFL this afternoon. I have a DB15 AR to dros for the month of Nov. Then I'll dros her by mid Dec, bring her home after Christmas.
