    Ruger LC9s

    Hey Guys,

I got to handle the new Ruger LC9s (new striker fired) at OC Armory at lunch today. They had 1 in stock, and unfortunately someone started paperwork on it before I even left. Before he bought it, I got to fondle it for a bit.

The trigger is everything that has been hyped about... and reviewed by Hickok45 http://youtu.be/Opx_IFm0iQU . It's nice & smooth, relatively light. The reset however is long (probably almost full release before it resets)

Anyways, those of you still looking for a CCW or final SSE, you should take a look at these. OC Armory had it for $370 plus tax & DROS... so about $424 OTD...cheap. They might get some more... not sure.

Anyways, just thought you guys might want to know.

That's what I got mine for at Alquist Arms in Turlock.

+1 on the trigger too. I especially appreciate that it eliminates the 'ghost reset' double click issue.

Yes. An incredible weapon and value.

I love the trigger. I just today received my free replacement recoil spring from Ruger in Arizona. Nice, cone shape. Good warranty upgrade from Ruger.

This is a great little pocket rocket. I also bought a couple of 9 round magazines from MidwayUSA..

      Keep buying guns boys.......

May the Bridges I burn light the way.

Fewer people are killed with all rifles each year (323 in 2011) than with shotguns (356), hammers and clubs (496), and hands and feet (728).

Why did they replace the recoil spring and why shipped to Arizona?

Shipped from Arizona, that is where Ruger is located. The new cone shaped recoil spring better insures the slide returns to battery. I also got mine in the mail today, excellent customer service from Ruger.

The only thing I wish the LC9s had was a little more prominent mag release button. It is difficult to push it enough when the mag is full. My LC9 worked better than LC9s in that department. But some people complain about it being too sensitive and popping the mag loose with their thumb when firing or the button popping the mag loose when in the holster - I can't even see how that would be possible based on mine. Maybe it will wear in to work better. I haven't shot mine yet

Don't know how you guys are getting the replacement parts shipped directly to you in CA (unless you are LEO or FFL)?????
I tried to get Ruger to send me a replacement guiderod/spring for my LC9s, and they refused, as I am in CA, and the gun is not on roster. It didn't matter that I explained there are legal ways to obtain an off-roster gun-SSE or PPT (they knew this anyway). They were only willing to ship the part to my FFL.
This may be my last purchase of a Ruger product due to the lousy CS (for me).

I've had this problem with my standard LC9. My gorilla thumbs would depress the button in recoil. I liked the profile of the gun, so I took the button to my bench grinder and flattened it. The problem is resolved.

Just to be clear, the S version is not on the roster, correct? You have to SSE it, no? I'd be interested in an S version if it is as good as you folks are indicating.

I called the 928 number. They asked for the serial number, my name, address and said it would go out the next morning. I said thank you and hung up.

Did you happen to mention the off roster status in your phone call?

I got mine from Ammo Paradise in Anaheim for $419 OTD. He still has some in stock. I pick mine up this Monday. I'll add some pics later.

This is my 3rd SSE I'm getting from Grant and he gets 2 thumbs up!

I bought one from ammo paradise in anehiem yesterday. You can go to their website to order. In a couple days (when it gets there) you can begin dros. Mine was about $400 out the door.

Nope. The gal balked as soon as I said "California" when I gave her my shipping address.

I filled out a repair request online. I simply told them I had the old guide rod and I needed the new guide rod because the gun wouldn't return to battery.
They told me to resubmit the request stating I'm a US citizen. Once I did that they sent it out no problem. I had it in 4 days.

IIRC you have to SSE both now, as the 'plain' LC9 dropped off the roster. And yes, it is worth it. I have both and while the loooooooooooooong LC9 trigger getting shortened is good, it was the 'double reset' getting fixed that really sold me on using up an SSE slot for a gun similar to one I already owned.

I liked the one I looked at but probably not going to get one with rugers attitide and quality control in general. Another member said the slide will rust easily if used for CC.
