    Canik... the next CZ

So. I've been doing a lot of research on my next gun and the Canik Stingray jumped into my radar. It looked interesting but in the back of my mind I was skeptical due to the low price compared to what you get.

I read some reviews and watched some youtube and saw only good things being said about it. It made it to my list of finalists.

I had a few questions about it that I was sure the fine gentlemen at CGW could answer.
Well after talking to CGW, my mind was firmly made up and I ordered the Stingray.

The gentleman at CGW said he's worked on plenty of Caniks and he finds them to be as good as, or better in some regards, to CZs. He also stated, when CGW decides to offer products/services for a prticular product, they make sure it's a superb product to begin with or they would not put in the investment required to support it.

One thing I found interesting was his comment about the "psychology of pricing". He basically said Caniks are what CZ was 10 years ago. When CZs could be had for $300 noone wamted them because they thought it had to be a cheaply made gun.

I'll know for sure when I get it but I think I'm gonna love this thing.

Yup, I love my Canik P120. CGW did my trigger job and i am still under the retail price for a SP01.

My modified Canik is a FAR better shooter than my VP9 and it (the vp9) was still more expensive.

Jeff at Parallax Tactical was able to order me one direct from their distributor.

I agree, when I was shopping on the CGW website for my 75BD upgrades last year I thought "what's a Canik?" Checked'em out and drooled.
              Canik

Thanks OP, this just may be my last SSE

We discussed Canik as a whole so I guess all of them. Or at least all their CZ clones.

                  Canik in other calibers?

Am I missing something? I see Canik only in 9mm. Do they make a .45? Or any other caliber?

                    No .45.

They do make some guns in .40 S&W and 9X21. Though I don't think they are importing any in 9X21.
                    Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

How much research did you do? You've basically repeated what I wrote several times over the last 6 months about Canik and Sarsilmaz. The Turkish guns are where CZ was 20 years ago, when "experts" at gun stores and on the internets said CZswere cheap East European junk that's no good. My, how much things have changed once people bought the guns and shot them rather than relying on what others have said. My Canik TP-9 is a good gun, but it's not as well put together as the Sar K2-45.

I'm a handgun noob and not grasping the concept on the TP9 SA, single action. There is a decocker....how does that work for single action?

Is the stingray the comparablento the p-07, Shark to p-09 (obviously understanding polymer to metal difference) Better comparisons in the CA metal lineup ?

OP, buy the Stingray or the P-120.

If you are unsatisfied, I am sure I could be convinced to buy it off you someday.

I lived in Turkey from '99-2001, back then everyone was into Huglu shotguns, maybe I should have paid attention to the pistols? Heard they make a good 1911 too.
