    FN five-seven

Does anyone know about the new FN USG five-seven, I mean, as far as in all other states it comes with 3-20 round magazines. In California does it still come with that? I know we don't have the freedoms that other states have. My brother, in Michigan, is on his 3rd assault rifle purchase since the ban was lifted, he keeps calling to rub it in. He just picked up a HK MP5 and all I get to have is the Bushmaster Carbon 15. I would love to get this FN Five-Seven with the 20 round mags and rub it in his face for once. Let me know if you have info.

You can buy a 5.7 but you can only legally get 10 round mags, sorry. And there's no way a 20 round mag for a 5.7 could ever possibly have been pre-Kali-ban so don't even think about it!!

FN Five-seveNs in California come with three TEN ROUND magazines.

The 5-7 was not available in any form to civilians before 2000, so do not even think of getting any full-capacity magazines for them - they are easily proved to be imported after the ban, since they weren't available beforehand.

They've (USG model) been running around $850 each at my shop for the last couple months, but FN recently lowered their price. I'd need to check and see what the current price is.

        WOW

that 5.7 round is alittle bigger than I had imagined.

no wonder the popo wants it banned!
In a letter dated December 28th 2005 Deputy Attorney General Alison Merrilees stated:

"You should also be aware that we intend to add it soon to the DOJ Assault Weapons Identification Guide. Therefore, the Stag-15 will soon be classified as an assault weapon."

        To Mrs. Merrilees I ask:

        Whats your definition of soon?

Heh, yes, quite a large bugger, isn't it?

I figured it was a nice combination of "successfully banned" and "may be banned"

10 round mags only. Don't worry about your brother calling and rubbing it in. I take our stupid CA laws any day over living in Michigan.

I got a chance to rent a 5.7 at a range recently (and spent $25 on a box of ammo). While accurate, I think the 5.7 is a bit overrated. With the armor piercing ammo being illegal for civilian use, it doesn't really provide anything over the 9mm, 40sw, 45acp trifecta. And buying one in Cali limits you to just 10 rounds per mag - which really defeats the purpose of owning a 5.7.

With H&K most likely releasing the UCP ( http://world.guns.ru/handguns/hg141-e.htm ) soon based on a 4.6 x 30mm platform, you may want to wait a while before dropping $800.

It's a neat and different gun to have- I don't care much for the H&K round myself- it's EVEN smaller and less powerful..
A .177 cal for defense? sheesh

I suspect the 5.7 will win the 'shootout' for Eurpoe's new defensive pistol/subgun round over the 4.6. It's far more established already- H&K got to the market too late.

the FsN is a fun gun, the down side is still the price of ammo. $20.00 for 50rds. the pop it makes is very cool, almost rifle like with the ss195 ammo. cali approved for now. but when the dealer hands you the gun and removes the 20 round mags infront of you to replace them with the 10 rounders it just breaks your heart

Just saw a few posting selling them at $699. The dealers that have been selling them say that those prices won't last long, but who knows, only time will tell.

$699 sounds like a great price. A buddy of mine is thinking about one. Which store has them for $699?

On further review.. that pricing is too low - over, but not by much, of what FN is selling them for to their distributors, without FET or shipping.

This guy is selling them for $775 shipped, the best price I have seen. Definately looks like a fun plinker, but I will hold off unless ammo prices come way down.

I would like to have one, but more as a novelty weapon. It's man stopping ability is too questionable for me to take it seriously for home defense.
