depends on your IA. OCSD doesn't care, none of my 3 ccw's are on the roster.

I think the 7 round mags w pinky extension are a must. Have taken mine out twice and still trying to figure out how to shoot this thing consistently. I changed hammer spring and did some bending of the sear spring, but not enough to make a material difference in pull, but will try again.

for those with heavy triggers, how many rounds have you put thru the gun? both of my 938's needed only 250 rounds to get them significantly lighter. my xds9 and both p938's started off probably at the high 8lb range. after 250 rounds, both sigs are in the low 6lb range, while the xds is still in the high 7lb range.

oh, and about the magazines with the pinky extension, i have to say that the p938 handles the shorter flush magazines better than the xds does, at least with my shooting. groups from the p938 with short or long magazines are indistinguishable, whereas with the xds, the groupings with the extended magazine are noticeably smaller.

This is a great little pistol, a mini 1911 that works reliably and accurately.
By far the most accurate pocket pistol I have shot, easy to conceal & carry.
the trigger bites & could use some work, lots of people swap it out for a smooth aluminum one. Really shines next to the little XDs, Nano & Shield-
More than the 7-round mag, the rubber or Houge grips make this great to handle.

I have one and it's great.

About the ballistics chart: many of those loads have been shown to not expand out of a short barrel. Use Gold Dot Short Barrel or Federal HST to ensure expansion.

I was considering the Federal HST a/o the Hornady XTP, both in 147 grain.

Hornady's listed spec. for the 147 gr. XTP/4" Bbl is 975, only a little (+16?) over the 3" P938 test. I would expect that expansion of that round would not be a problem.

The HST bullet is reportedly reliable down to an impact velocity of ~ 725 fps.

It looks like the biggest shortfall happens w/ the lighter/faster ammo... which I am not interested in using.

If the P938 shoots heavy-for-caliber rounds reliably...? Then I'm good.

This is mostly wrong. Only two maybe three IA's won't accept SSE guns and it's not because of the SSE it's because of the caliber mismatch between the DROS form and the CCW caliber. There are legal ways around it.

                    It's discussed here:

i put about 500 rounds through mine, my trigger now breaks at a crisp 4.25lbs with very little over travel and a nice short reset. No other trigger work done to it.

it's a great gun, i highly recommend it. my carry load is hst 147gr

I really want the 938 SAS. Sadly my CCW IA doesn't like SSE guns. I'm not planning on living in CA forever though. Too many people, not enough freedom. I'll carry one in a free state someday.

Well, thanks again for all the C/C/S.

After strenuous deliberation, I finally decided to get one...

...only to find out that my LGS/SSE is now sold out of the one I wanted.

So, ...looks like I will be relying on the two-headed god of Providence/Re-supply to determine the fate of that fine little lady.
