I'm interested in purchasing a full size M&P 45, but have not had, nor will have, the opportunity to actually shoot one. I currently own 3 other M&Ps in different calibers, Glock 36 and several 1911s in 45 ACP. It appears a common complaint with the M&P 45 is the trigger, with a fix being a trigger job. Is the stock M&P 45 stock trigger really that bad, or much different than other M&Ps, e.g., the 9mms? Can any M&P 45 owners please comment? Thanks

M&P 45 Trigger

The older M&P 45's had the non-distinct trigger break and reset that many complain about. I did not find it that bad. With that said, I eventually put in the Apex solution, and it cleared up any misgivings I had about the trigger. Great trigger now.
The newer M&P's all have the improved trigger. Defiantly better than the old ones. Is it good enough for you? Only you can answer that.
I recommend you shoot it for few months, and get used to it before you decide whether or not to put in an Apex kit.
BTW...my M&P .45 is the most accurate of all of my M&P's...

Just shot a stock M&P .45 last night. I have the full sized 9mm with about 500 rounds through it and the triggers seemed identical to me.Comment

I've been carrying one as a duty pistol for almost three years, and it has the somewhat gritty takeup and lack of distinct reset. After 2K rounds it has smoothed out quite a bit.
I bought one last December and it had a similar trigger feel but heavier pull, over 9lbs. I upgraded to an APEX sear and safety block and it makes a huge difference.
That being said, the stock trigger is fine, for a duty type pistol. A lot of shooters blame the gun when it is really a shooter issue.Comment

Don't get the one with the safety. I made this mistake and later found out that the trigger on this model is even worse than the non safety model. Out of all my M&P's (9mm, .40, .45) my 45 has the heaviest trigger.__________________________________________________ _____________

I can't speak about the stock trigger on the 45 M&P but, I bought an older M&P 45 from a Calgunner and it had the Apex trigger already installed. It instantly became my favorite pistol to shoot when I took it out for the first time. Great trigger and accurate.

I love my M&P 45. Has the thumb safety (I like it), but I sent my pistol to ATEi before I even took it to the range. The trigger was gritty and stuff, poor reset, very mushy...
Got it back from Doug the same week I sent it to him, and it's phenomenal now.You Better Brace Yourselves For A Whole Lotta Ugly Comin' At You From A Neverending Parade Of Stupid.Comment

I recommend getting the model with the thumb safety and installing an Apex Forward Set Sear (FSS) kit. I find the FSS kit too good to run in a no-safety M&P, but otherwise as close to perfect as you could hope for. If you hate safeties then buy the Duty/Carry kit. I have an M&P45 that I tuned for an almost 1911 like 4lbs."Government is the great fiction, through which everybody endeavors to live at the expense of everybody else." --FREDERIC BASTIAT--

Same here. 1911's thumb safety and the M&P's go together very well. You Better Brace Yourselves For A Whole Lotta Ugly Comin' At You From A Neverending Parade Of Stupid.Comment
