Having a Hard time finding a Hi-power

I've been looking for the last few weeks to find a Browning or FN hi-power.

I prefer the blued over the matte but now would take anything.

CDNN is out of originals, only have the SFS (i'm a purist and prefer something original and don't care for extra parts with the SFS)

I found a non-SFS matte on GB.com for 550, which seems high to me. I asked about a better price and they said no. Shipping is 30 bucks and i asked if they will ship USPS instead (another no, and reason was it is illegal to ship handguns via the post office)

I'm running out of options, FN and browning no longer make the non-SFS guns...Anyone know of a source that has these at a reasonable price (500 plus shipping sounds reasonable) I'm still stuck on the fact that CDNN had them for 399 a year ago. Does anyone know what dealer cost on these puppies are?

The Dealer Warehouse has FM (Argentine) FN licensed factory built HPs for $299. I don't think these pistols are on the list anymore but TDW is located in California so I'm not 100% sure about legality. It doesn't say "no CA sales" on their site for the hi-powers but it does for some other stuff so I assume you can buy one. Try giving them a call www.tdwsales.com

Prefer a brand new one. However, would take a slightly used good condition one. Stock or a little fixed up is fine with me....

If the mag safety is gone thats all the better


I've only played with the SFS safety version at the store before. Can anyone give any reviews on it? I might as well (if i cannot find a regular one), later on change out the SFS system to regular parts

Are you looking for 9mm or 40? NIB FN BHPs in 9mm seem to have dried up lately. 40cal are easier to find right now, and one of the big distributors has good pricing on them (only has stock of 40 cal single action and SFS I believe). Conversion barrels are available to convert from 40 to 9mm, and some tout the advantages of stronger lugs and a heavier slide in doing this.

Are you N or So Cal? I'm talking to my friendly local FFL about an order right now and we could get shipping costs further down by batching up if you were interested. Shoot me a PM if interested.

FYI, SFS is this goofy system where you can push the hammer forward, and it drops to half cock and the safety pops up. Then when you flick off the safety, the hammer jumps back to full cock. I don't like it personally.

Once CDNN finds out you're from Cali, they won't sell you any handguns and only non-semiauto long guns. Ask me how I know.

Another mind boggling question.
FN makes (or rollmarks) 2 different standard type (non-sfs) versions.
1 says Columbia, SC on the slide....other is missing that marking and say HP-SAS?

Does anyone know the difference? Maybe just a rollmark or a import vs. non import??? (which i thought they were all made in one place)
