What do you know? My Nephew seems to think he want's one I said otherwise! This would be his first handgun these are $700-$800 if I'm not mistaking and I haven't check for ROSTER yet. What would you recommend I say M&P, CZ or SIG trade-in. Glock is 100% out It 's just that way.

VP9 is a great gun to purchase right now, they can be had for about $599-$629 + tax, shipping, and transfer fee, SSE fee, dros. It is not on the roster obviously, since no new guns can be added. I say let him get what he wants and only he can tell you that.

Common prices we are paying is anywhere from 800-850 total. Some rare cases you will find them for 750 in total. Or as we say OTD "out the door."

Well the VP9 is a great gun and will most likely go up in value in CA in the near future. However if price is a concern I recommend a Sig SP2022 they are great guns can be found in 9mm & 40cal. They have Sigs four-point safety system (decocker) and they can be had for about $450 new.

Is he not allowed to make decisions for himself? I don't understand why you would value the opinions of a bunch of strangers, over that of your nephew?

Personally, if it was me, and my uncle was telling me what I could and couldn't buy- I'd get a Glock... and I don't even like Glocks...

Even if I went on to buy nicer, better guns. Every time my dear old uncle invited me to go shooting, guess what I'm bringing.

I value nothing I am asking about a specific gun I know nothing about and did not even know it existed until today, I do know the other guns but I am a 1911 guy and I did not recommend a 1911 for him because he did not ask about a 1911 so I didn't shove it down his throat, I am trying to help him make the best decision for his experience and hard earned money. Just maybe he values my opinion since he didn't just go out and buy something. I can see you probably don't have close relationships with family members. Sorry about that! and Thanks!

He does not know the difference. He is buying on looks and obviously the cool/wow factor, hence why he asked for help.

You probably don't realize he's not going to be able to get an M&P either, at least not new, due to our fabulous roster.
Time's running out to get a VP9. Expect to pay $800 to $850 otd, but it's an excellent choice and will likely hold its value, if not increase in value.
In reality, it's only a couple hundred dollars more than some of the other models you listed by the time you figure in tax and dros.
He should get what he wants now, while he still has some choices. After the year end, those options are gone. He has many more years to select from the dwindling number of choices the state leaves for him.

Just make sure your FFL won't charge an arm and a leg for SSE and blocking magazines.

M&P 9's are nice too (Also not on the roster), but the stock trigger leaves a lot to be desired, and you may have some magazine issues if you get the factory 10 rounders.

^^$600 is a good price, but remember that you have to add shipping, ffl transfer fee, tax, and DROS, plus a small fee to have the mags blocked if they are not 10 rounders. That $600 could easily be $800 otd.
