Nothing wrong with pulling the trigger to drop the slide. I have a M&P too, and still pull the trigger to strip it down. If you're uncomfortable with the holster and worried about the trigger, dont walk around with one in the chamber. Its really not an issue, but if you're worried, dont keep one in the chamber.
The 19 is too small for the range for me, and too big to carry. I like glocks, but I cant say im all that drawn to the 19. Id prefer a true full size and a dedicated slim carry gun.
Glocks are mechanically excellent guns that just plain last. Not just for guns, but theres not a lot of products in general that are cheap and quality. Glock fills that nicely. Once I held a M&P in my hand, I was sold though. Similar qualities of a glock but its more ergonomic for a lot of people.Comment

There is plenty wrong with pulling the trigger to remove the slide if one merely reviews the statistics and accidental discharge data, and it's 'common knowledge' that people forget to clear the chamber after dropping the magazine. An example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sEgGiTVLUuM at 2:35. Pulling the trigger to field strip is rapidly becoming a thing of the past, and people, unfortunately, will always be inadvertent and careless, though they might think otherwise.
With the magazine disconnect, one can not pull the trigger and engage the striker if the magazine has been dropped. So if one forgets to clear round in the chamber nothing will happen. You see in the video at 2:35 what happened without a magazine disconnect.
Carry condition 3 is ill-advised in my opinion with any semi-auto. Too many things can go wrong and there usually will not be enough time, and stress does play a significant role.
And at usual price of mid-500's, Glocks are not cheap. They are built to last, and do last, and I'm not disputing that point.
I doubt the 19 is the best selling handgun- maybe it is. But I don't know how that fellow can make such a statement.
Doing a brief search, I found the foilowing, but it is not such a broad sweeping statement of fact because it references only one seller, albeit the largest:

G19. I'd own a dozen of them as my only handguns if I could.
Good choice, OP.I do believe that, where there is only a choice between cowardice and violence, I would advise violence... I would rather have India resort to arms in order to defend her honour than that she should, in a cowardly manner, become or remain a helpless witness to her own dishonor. -- Mahatma GhandiComment

One thing to note is the Sheriff's stance on what is acceptable for CCW. Some people have had trouble getting an off-roster pistol, like a Generation 4 Glock 19 for example, accepted in their CCW application. Find out what restrictions you may face before you decide.Comment

That's a good point.
If the State of California considers it an 'unsafe' handgun (rightly or wrongly), I don't see how any Sheriff or Police Chief can be faulted in denial of a carry permit for such a handgun. For potential liability purposes, I can see the reasoning because in case of ND where a third party is injured or killed the argument might be some liability on the part of the issuing authority for not following CA law- despite the SSE loophole, which cirumvents the Roster, and assuming that a causal connection can be established (and also assuming arguendo no immunity on this issue). The lawyers for the plaintiff might argue the SSE exemption does not make the handgun 'safe' and is a pretentious fraud which defeats the statutory framework.Last edited by ifilef; 10-18-2014, 1:01 PM.Comment

I have a G19 Gen3 and honestly would never recommend one if you are living in California.
Reason why: You will get crappy CA neutered 10rd magazines+followers that will fail to feed various hollow points on the last round. Also buying a new G19, you are taking a 50/50 chance of getting one with erratic ejections/brass to the face issues. My G19 had this issue and it was a nightmare.
I am surprised no one has mentioned these known issues...Comment

I don't know anything about the SIG P320, but it sounds interesting: http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/201...ig-sauer-p320/
