    First handgun Glock 19 or.....?

I am about to purchase my first handgun. Thinking about buying a glock 19.
I want a gun for the shooting range and if i would ever choose to conceal carry this gun is it a right options? Or what are better options?

It'll do well for both, but better as a CCW.

Best thing to do is find a range and shoot a bunch of guns.

You'll get overwhelmed with suggestions, best thing to do is figure out what fits you best that's within the parameters you are looking for.

You won't go wrong starting with the Glock.

Take a look at the Springfield's XD line.
Different sizes available to suit your needs.

that's a good choice. If you have larger hands id go with the 17, or a M&P9. any of those 3 you cant go wrong.

Buy Gen4 this weekend!!! - or - buy Gen3 next year.
19's are great, the do everything (jack of all trades) size.

Buy a XDs 9mm next month. Single stack, excellent CCW option or 2nd CCW.

Buy a PPQ/VP9/P320 month after. I recommend in that order.

If you still have a month left (because you chose Gen3), buy something else off roster.

              GO! Time a wasting. GO!

the G19 compact can wear several hats and wears all of them quite well; great handgun.

Have you ever considered the G30? You really get a lot of bang for your buck with that guy.

glock 19 is a great choice, but if you are willing to spend about $100 more and have an FFL near you that does SSE, than go with a ppq.

^^^ Sorry to disagree with SCE (as I usually do)... but I would not recommend a G30 .45acp subcompact (or any subcompact) for your first handgun.

IMHO, the G19 (assuming it fits your hand comfortably) would be a far better choice. Pay close attention that your pinky finger fits comfortably on the G19's grip.
I have a large hand and had to move up to a G17 to get a comfortable grip. Then, if possible, compare the Gen3's grip with a Gen4. The Gen4's grip is slightly smaller,
but it includes small, medium, and large backstraps to adjust the grip size. Putting the small backstrap on the Gen4 = Gen3's grip size. The Gen4 has a different texture as well.
                        I prefer the Gen4.... YMMV.

It's a great pistol. If you are a new shooter and have no experience I recommend getting training. CGN are a community of great folks and will probably even help you out if asked. GL and welcome to the club.

A G19 would be a good substitute. How about the new G42 selection?

19 is a tough gun to beat, I have 2 practically.

                              A 19 and a 23, 9mm and 40 versions. Love them both. (Technically the 19 is my gf's, technically )
