No everyone keeps on ranting and raving about this one. I think I need to put her to the test, that's all I'm sayin'.Comment

It's certainly a good one, I think the PPS and XDS are probably worth having a look into as well, and maybe the P938 and PM9, although those are really smaller and not in the same size class.
PPS might be a better shooter and have a better trigger, but it does carry one round less in order to be the same size (extended mags available of course). XDS, I don't know much about but it does come with the best stock sights of the three.Comment

Nice well made gun. I just received my updated permit with it listed, replacing my G26 as the small gun on my permit along with my G19 and G29. It really disappears with the Remora IWB holster. I also added night sights and have some grip tape on order.Comment

I am extremely pleased with all of my M&Ps. My carry gun is an M&P 40C, no safety. Will shoot USPSA with my M&P Pro 5" 9MM, no mag safety, no thumb safety. I picked up a 9MM Shield a few months back which I added to my CCW license. It has the mag safety, thumb safety and loaded chamber indicator. I have put over a 1000 rounds through them combined, have never had an issue.
I have started carrying the Shield more and more......

Love my Shield.
Very easy to carry, 8 round magazine makes it manageable to grip, I group well with it at ~10 yards.
Apex trigger kit was a great modification. Fun to install and will make the Shield feel like a whole different gun. Highly recommend.
The shield was a complete impulse buy for me too. I was looking for something else that they were out of. Saw the shield and decided, why not?
Glad you like yours OP.Signature requiredComment

Took mine out last Sat for the first time. Eager to get my trigger smoothed out. Shot 300 rnds and it seemed to start getting better. Hoping another ~300 tomorrow will do it. Will be comparing it to my friends new Glock 42 tomorrow also.
Have an XDs in jail .. can't wait to try it out and compare.Comment

Absolutely love my 40 Shield. So comfy to carry and it shoots great. I did notice a problem this evening that was caused totally by my negligence. After I got it out of my vault and before I popped in onto my belt, I tried to release the mag. Yea Yea I know, some folks say not to store it loaded. The mag release was stuck from the few times I carried it with the grip up against my waist flap, and the sweat got to it. I couldn't get the mag out and stood there all alone in my home office looking embarrassed. I locked back the slide and finally got the release to let go. I spent the next few minutes carefully cleaning and lubing the release, wiping down the mag with a thin film of FrogLube and worked the action for a while. Everything back to normal. I am definitely making sure to drop the mag at the end of each carry, and to do proper cleaning. Lesson learned! I would hate for this to happen when I am pressed to drop an empty mag and reload...... Take care of your shield!-Glock Armorer-
