I have owned a few 1911s and never really cared for the Sig but it has grown on me lately . I don't really want to SSE that is one of the reasons I am considering the Sig that and I like the already checkered front strap . Any thoughts on this firearm ?

Sig Sauer 1911 Ca. Approved Model

A friend of mine has one and I've shot it. The first time I shot it I put 7 of 8 in a hole that could almost be covered by a quarter. This was at 10 yards. I would highly recommend it.Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

Sig 1911's come with a lot of features that often cost extra with other companies. They are great guns and excellent values in their price range.Comment

Good to hear positive feedback on the Sig ! I can buy thru the gun club I belong to for good price and no tax . This will save me lots of money over SSE some other 1911Comment

I have a stainless rail and the TTT, both on roster. I love them both and they are very accurate and built well. I had an issue with my TTT initially where the slide to frame fit was tight and wouldnt go into battery ocassionally. That issue resolved itself with good cleaning and lubing and about 300 or so rounds down range.Comment

I had the nitron rail and the sss rail. Didnt care for them. A lot of slide to frame movement, barrel movement and not the tightest barrel bushing fitment, although the triggers were nice. However, I couldn't shoot them accurately if my life depended on them, so I sold them. Personally id get something else, yes even a kimber.sigpicComment

I have the plain nitron (non-rail), I'm a better shot with it than with my Colt Railgun, but the fit and finish is better on the Colt. You Better Brace Yourselves For A Whole Lotta Ugly Comin' At You From A Neverending Parade Of Stupid.Comment

Be sure to really check a new Sig 1911 over really well. They can have issues with poor beavertail fitment and improper barrel fit. Also I have handled some that fail the trigger safety-half notch test. If you do not know a lot about 1911 gunsmithing, then many issues slip by on the kind of inspection you can do at a gunshop counter. I fall into this category of not knowing until after I have owned the gun for a while and run into trouble.
Sig sells guns based on some bells and whistles that are easily seen like night sights and front strap checkering. However, they can be hit or miss on the more important aspects of a well put together 1911 with regards to parts longevity.
They do have a very nice price point for what you get, provided you get a good one.
My favorite 1911 is a Dan Wesson CBOB, a close second is my Sig GSR railed "Revolution". I just love the blocky slides on the Sig 1911's. I did have to change the hammer and sear on my Sig GSR though as they were not well fit parts. That added another $70 in parts plus gunsmith labor to the cost. I did not trust Sig to fix what they built wrong to start with. I would buy a new TTT if one came up for the right price though. The small parts are easy to get replaced.Comment
