Looking to get a full-size 1911. My budget is $1000. Right now I could go 9mm or .45acp. Nothing fancy. Stainless not a requirement. Range gun. Reliability and reasonable accuracy is what I am looking for. What do you recommend? Thanks.

Not this again...WTB Springfield Armory 1911-A1 Stainless Steel and Blackbought a Kimber Stainless instead baby. -
Funny, that's what I was thinking when I saw your post...
I have a Springfield Loaded and enjoy it. I'd say most if not all options in your price range will give you reliability and reasonable accuracy. Probably best to check a couple out in the store and see what feels good. Find a couple to shoot as well and see what you like if you can.Last edited by Catalyst81; 09-29-2014, 9:52 AM.Comment

I have a Sig Nitron that I love.
Honestly, that question is like asking "Should I get a Ford, Chevy, Toyota or a GMC"
There is no "right" or "wrong" answer.
That said, I've heard rumors that Springfield has been struggling with QC in recent years. I haven't experienced it myself but YMMV. Colt, Sig, Wilson Combat, Dan Wesson, and Kimber all make fine 1911s. My next one will likely be a Wilson just to add variety.Dear ISIS, Texas is not known for their gun free zones.

Ruger SR1911 is American made, stainless, 70 series type, no Kalifornistan safety nonsense, backed by top shelf customer service. $1K will get ya the gun, extra mags & some ammo.
AND... it's just as good (maybe better) than a Les Baer!
Only features it's missing that I'd like to have are adjustable sights and front strap checkering."He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog.
You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart.
You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion."

Ruger SR1911. Runs 100% . Under 800.
Hickok45 has a video on it.
Personally I favor series 70. The Ruger is series 70 with a titanium firing pin.May the Bridges I burn light the way.
