Shield No Safety vs Safety Trigger

I am filling up one of my SSE slots up with a M&P Shield 9mm. I have been looking at the safety version and the non-safety version.

My question is based on owners experience how much of a trigger difference there is? I am sure the non-safety version has a heavier trigger, but have people who have tried both noticed much of a difference?

Can't be of much help other than the one I have shot with a safety has a nice trigger feel and weight for a carry gun. It is my shooting buddies and have shot maybe 100 rounds through it. With that said, the safety is just too small for my hands.

    Again, sorry can't help more.

According to the manufacturer tech. specs it's 6.5lbs for both models. There is no need to make it heavier, actually. 6.5 is more than Glock's trigger

Yes, I saw that the specs on the Shields are the same on the S&W website but just want to know real world experience.

To tell you the truth I think it would come down to if I could even get the no thumb safety ordered through my FFL. I do not want to order one online and then have to SSE it for around $100 and tax on top of that.

+1 and quite stiff. It takes effort to activate it. I'm sure it would loosen up over time, but there's no danger of accidentally activating it.

Well turns out I am going to have to go with the safety. My FFL could only find the one with a safety in stock, and didn't know when could get the one without.

Wouldn't want to miss an SSE slot waiting for the no safety.

At $460 OTD I don't see how I can go wrong. May have the safety but at least it won't have the indicator. I hate the look of that thing.

Safety is really not a big deal. I simply never activate it. The safety switch is small and stiff, it would be extremely unlikely you'd accidentally activate it.

I have a no thumb safety model. It was available at the time. None of my other handguns, except my 1911s, have manual safeties so I figured I'd be more consistent without one.

If I could find the no thumb it would be the route to go. Though buying online and then doing SSE that way it would cost about $50 more then what my FFL can get. At $460 it is worth it but then going higher the cost does come into factor. I did not want to go past $500. Although an FFL in my area did have the no thumb safety but was trying to charge $690. I was a bit shocked on that one.

I looked at the original SHield and had to pass due to the safety. As a lefty, it isn't easily manipulated.

If the non-safety model would have been available when I purchased mine, I would have bought it. But....since it wasn't, I just don't use the safety. Problem solved.
