g21 10mm conversion

So is there any mechanical risk to the firearm from shooting the .40, or is it just a potential reliability issue? If i was carrying I am sure I would have the 10's, but it would be cool to shoot cheap .40 at the range.

Thanks for all the help, I've always been a 9mm guy but I'm thinking about expanding my horizons a little haha. I was just going to keep getting more 9mm with sse, but between my full size gen 4 g17 and compact p07, how much better is it really gonna get?

Now I'm thinking I should get some different caliber stuff and ultra compact ccw types.

Maybe g20, g26 and a single stack something or other. The last one is a real hard choice. Shields are ok but I want something less common. Any ideas are welcome haha.

It is a reliability issue. Accuracy is also diminished slightly, but not any worse than poorly made 10mm ammo.

You can buy a 9mm barrel for the Glock 20 from Lone Wolf. It works great, but you will need a #12 or #11 recoil spring to get it to cycle. I took 5 shots at 10 yards from a bench rest using Fiocchi 115gr FMJ, and all 5 shots/holes are completely hidden behind a quarter coin. Even the black tear marks are hidden behind the quarter. As a comparison, I was shooting factory 40S&W ammo out of a 10mm barrel, and my a group was about 2-1/2 quarters at 10 yards.

The only problem I found with the 9mm conversion is that since the magazine follower is made for the 10mm diameter brass the slide holds open with a 9mm round still in the magazine. This can be dangerous if someone is not paying attention and drops the slide thinking the magazine is empty. I plan on getting a spare 10mm follower and using a Dremmel tool to lower the slide hold-open notch so the last round in the magazine gets used.

I've been looking for a new G20 Gen4 complete upper for awhile now. If anyone sees one, I and I'm sure a few others here would be interested.

That said, the estimated cost of a G20 Gen4 complete upper plus 3 G20 magazines puts you within about $130 of the cost of a complete G20 box kit.

I made a thread about this a bit ago. It seems like the best option for versatility is to get whichever is cheaper, a 20 or 21, then get the compete slide for the other model. From there your swappable barrel and caliber options are going to be more then you would ever want to be able to afford to stockpile
