    g21 10mm conversion

Do you need anything other than a barrel? Does the extractor need to be changed? What about mags?

    Thanks

You'll need different mags for sure. The extractor should work, but some people have better luck modifying it for the smaller round. You'll also want to look into a heavier recoil spring if you're going to put full power 10mm rounds through it. I did this conversion on my G30 recently. Everything worked without a stoppage, but the ejection seemed a little weak compared to the native 45 ACP.

Go with a G20, then get conversion barrels for the 40 S&W and the 357sig

I think it can be done, but not without some work and I don't think it's as easy as changing a barrel like the g20 to the 40 or 357sig.

I think the answer is, how reliable do you want it to be?

If you want pure Glock reliability, buy a complete slide and a few magazines from gunbroker dot com and you have essentially both guns, complete.

If it is for the range, a barrel, mag and heavier recoil spring should get the job done (the G21 slide is lighter, so given equal loads, the G21 slide will have higher velocity than the G20 slide. A heavier recoil spring will help slow things down). A G20 extractor is like $15, so if you have feed issues, pretty cheap to give that a try.

I have a few G20SF's and a complete G21 slide, plus lots of mags for all, I definitely would not go back to conversion barrels for the combo.

I would just try to find a complete g20 slide on the market and of course G20 mags.

As far as I'm aware there is no difference between the G21 ands G20 frames, someone correct me if I'm wrong.

            You are correct.

There's a G20 slide and barrel in the market place for 200 bucks right now. It's been "polished", but if you just want to shoot 10, it'll be perfect. Buy it, because I want to.

                Well. How bout this?

I have a G21. I was thinking about doing the 45-10 conversion. What got me thinking was getting a G20 slide and barrel for 10mm shooting with my G21 frame. That will work according to what I have been reading. I was thinking about getting a Lone Wolf 10-40 conversation barrel for the G20 slide and using it with my G21 frame. Theoretically, it should work. Now it would basically be one gun shooting 3 calibers.

                What say you?

The G21 & G20 frame are the same (as are the sub-SF models), right down to the ejector, so a G20 slide will, ah, slide right on and function like it came from the factory that way. Just buy a complete G20 slide on GB, some G20 mags and you have a G20.

It gets better, you don't need to buy that G20-40 conversion barrel as in a Glock shooting 40 out of the 10mm barrel and mags will work fine.

And really, your caliber combos jump even more with .45 Super, .357SIG, 9x25 Dillon, 38 Super, 40 Super, 400 Corbon, I probably missed a few...

You need new magazines for the 10mm

Man if a slide is 200, that sounds pretty good lol.

I guess the next question, and I know I've seen the answer somewhere but forget, is do the frame and slide need to be the same gen? I'd be getting a gen4 frame.

Now I am wondering whether I should go for g20 and the. Get 21 slide eventually or g21 and get 20 slide.

And of course a 41 slide eventually lol.

Is there any difference between 22 and 20 mags?

                      Thanks again

The Gen 4 frame/slide is different and incompatible with the Gen 1/2/3 frame/slide.

Gen 1, Gen 2, and Gen 3 are compatible with each other.
Gen 4 is only compatible with Gen 4.

                        Yes, there are size differences.
Which is why a Glock 22 magazine will not work in a Glock 20/21 frame and Glock 20 magazine will not work in a Glock 17/22/31/37 frame.

                        Glock 20/21 frame = Glock 20 & 21 magazines
                        Glock 29/30 frame = Glock 20, 21, 29, & 30 magazines.
                        Glock 17/22/31/37 frame = Glock 17, 22, 31, & 37 magazines
                        Glock 19/23/25/32/38 frame = Glock 17, 19, 22, 23, 25, 31, 32, 37, & 38 magazines
                        Glock 26/27/28/33/39 frame = Glock 17, 19, 22, 23, 25, 26, 27, 28, 31, 32, 33, 37, 38, & 39 magazines

Ok that's what I thought, thanks. My history is with 9mm glocks but the 20/21 deal seems like fun.

I am really torn up over this sse business lmao.

So a g20 can safely and reliably shoot .40? I remember seeing ocean Bob say as much, I think?

That might be a nice economical plinker/heavy blaster combo... cheaper than 45/10 combo I suppose.

.40S&W can be shot out of the Glock 20 without changing anything.

                              However...
Some people recommend not doing so because the .40S&W case headspaces off the extractor, so the cartridge is not fully supported when it's fired.
Some people have also experienced some reliability issues (failure to feed) due with (shorter overall length) .40S&W ammo in the Glock 20 magazine.

Weigh the pros/cons and decide for yourself.
