I have taken my 8 rounders (got 4 of em) and used a tiny bit of superglue to secure the spacers. No issues at all.

Click Boom you could have a lemon with any manufacturer, do you also not buy glocks because in the past pistols have blown up, or Colt revolvers because they can go out of timing ETC ETC ETC. My point is any manufacturer could release a gun with issues. My shield has been solid and I trust my and my families life with it, just like I do my Full Sized M&P, and also any of the other pistols I own for SD/HD

I carry and practice with 7 rounders. I have fairly big hands (XL/XXL MTB Gloves) and my pinky hangs off and it doesn't bother me a single bit, even when shooting one handed (strong and weak). I can shoot 5 round groups touching at 7yds (2 hands weak or strong). I always try to finish every range trip with a box through my Shield since its my EDC.

I carry the 8 rounds mags WITHOUT the spacers as spares in my car, laptop or camera bag... whatever I have.

I think too many people blame the gun for their generally bad technique. It's challenging to get groups with the factory trigger but its possible. It's a breeze with the Apex trigger. Your pinky isn't that important. But it does make a great excuse for a lousy trigger press.

Always worth remembering the general abuse rental guns take... even after a week. It only takes one person to do something silly.

Not an issue I have really seen.

if a rental gun could speak, the first words spoken might be 'why me?'

I have no issues with mine either. There is a little play in the 8 rounder but I never even thought about until now. It has not affected me at all.

+1 -- no issues here. My Shield is 100% reliable, very accurate, and a joy to shoot. In short, my carry gun.

Thus, why it's a ccw gun. I'd use something else if it were a HD gun.

My 8-round mags are very snug in my Shield with no play at all.

The tolerances on the rental gun you shot may have been on the loose side. All it takes is the grip to be 1mm too short for the mag to have some play when inserted.

Um, I guess I don't follow exactly what you're saying? CCW is with you to protect you and your family...which is no different than at home. I expect similar capabilities from my CCW firearms as I do from my HD firearms. I don't expect exactly the same accuracy as a longer sight radius, longer bbl firearm obviously, but I do expect 100% reliability. My full size isn't as easy to conceal in the summer otherwise I'd carry it all the time.

Just glue the spacer to the magazine. Problem solved.

Yes, would you ccw a full sized handgun? Its possible but not ideal and any ccw is obviously meant to protect oneself and loved ones. In an HD situation, would you not use a better handgun that does the job or a smaller framed gun that is harder to hold and isn't as proficient as a full sized firearm would be? 7-8 rounds vs 10 rounds (or more in different states)? 9mm or 40 or 45 or 5.7 or 223/556 or 7.62x39 well you get whst I am trying to say now. The shield really isn't a range gun although I use it at the range more often than I do my other firearms.

I actually prefer the feel of the 7 rounders versus the 8. The extra round seems to make the grip just a little to long, and I know from testing I do better with the shorter mags.

In the end, it just comes down to what feels good in your hands, and how good (or bad) your skill level is.
