    Question for Shield owners

Thinking about buying a Shield (caliber TBD) and I was happy to find a 9mm to rent at Iron Sights in Oceanside.

The range rents it with the 8-round magazine, which fits my hand well. But when shooting it, I kept noticing that the magazine felt like it was moving around slightly. I was expecting a more secure fit for the extension part -- that is, less "play."

Are they all that way? I found it distracting while I was shooting. Do you get used to it? Moreover, could it cause problems with feeding or accuracy?

This particular Shield was only a week or so old, so I'm assuming that it's not worn or abused.

I wanted a shield and o kept reading about issues. I know 99% of people love there's but I'm scared to get a lemon.

The little cover pieces that just slide around to fill the gap on the mags do tend to move around, but I have 2 8rd and 4 7rd mags and they don't feel like they're loose to me. Can't entirely judge something by a rental, especially a popular one, since rentals are just like rental cars - people treat them like a red headed stepchild. Feeding or accuracy issues? No.

Yeah mine has some slight movement but I didn't notice any performance issues I'm only 300rds into it but the only thing that bother me was because of the smaller frame my trigger finger nail would scratch my support hand and make me flinch. User error a MANicure will get me back to operator status in no time. Trigger was pretty heavy out of box as well but 300rd its dropped at least a pound. Good buy you'll be happy with it as I am.

As long as it goes bang and the rounds lands reasonable close to the point of aim...it is gtg. This pistol is about conceal-ability and manage-ability, it is not meant to fit as tight as a custom match grade 1911.

When you start comparing it to similarly priced CCW weapons its overall value is apparent.

I think its the little spacer that moves, not the actual mag..At least on mine , that's what I feel..I absolutely love mine ..Believe it or not, I shoot it better than my G26 or G19..I can hit a torso size steel target at 100 yds. no problem..

I don't like that the sleeve moves around also. I may use some VHB or similar to get them to stay, but I tend to favor the 7rd mags more with the Pearce extensions.

I love my 9mm Shield and so far haven't had any issue with the spacers on the 8 round magazines moving. I do absolutely prefer the 8 round over my pinky hanging off the frame when I use the 7 round.

He's wrong about gluing the extension to the mag body too, it disassembles with that thing in place because the base plate slides to the front. Leaving it off means your pinky will sit in the gap.

I prefer the 7rd mag with Pearce extension .... But also I didn't have any issues with the extension moving on my 8rd.

No problems here but I'd have to agree that it will loosen up over time. It isn't permanently attached so there really is no fitment as opposed to a firearm built with tight tolerances. This is a ccw gun so it isn't really meant for much. Mine has seen a few thousand rounds from factory to the max loads on several different pistol powder. 115-124 gr, HP, and rn bullets and has not run into one single problem. Has only been cleaned once and that was after 2k rounds. Didn't bother with initial break down and thorough clean/oiling.

Both of mine have a little slop, both side to side and front to back. 1 mm or so. Not the spacer but the mag itself. It's never bothered me at all when I shoot it, in fact I've never noticed it when shooting. The only time I noticed it was seating a mag the first time or two. I've gone almost 1700 rounds without a malfunction.
+1 on the Pearce extensions. You'd think they turn the 7 rounder into the size of the 8 rounder, but they don't. The overall length at the front might be nearly the same, but it's still way shorter in back, which is the part that sticks out when you carry.

Meant for much other than protecting the lives of your loved ones and yourself? Kind of important IMHO.\

8rd vs 7rd with Pearce. The Pearce do stick out slightly more than the 8rd up front, but as mentioned, the important factor is that the back side does not stock out any further than the flat baseplate. I find the 7rd with the Pearce gives a better grip as well.
